Megyn Kelly got into a war of words on social media with an obscure liberal writer in the aftermath of the universally condemned and unacceptable violence on Wednesday at the U.S. Capitol.
Kelly, who appears to be burnishing her center-right views, as she describes them, after launching a podcast, rejected the guilt by association that the Democrats and the corporate media seem to be pushing along lines of perhaps the traditional mantra of never letting a crisis go to waste.
“The Capitol riots are wrong. But the Trump critics using this as proof that every criticism they’ve ever lobbed at Trump/his supporters has been validated is absurd,” the now-independent journalist reasonably wrote on Twitter to her 2.5 million followers.

Self-described cat guy and professor/author Tom Nichols then seemed to suggest on the social media platform that Megyn Kelly should be cancelled over this even-handed perspective. “It’s unfortunate to give her one more moment of attention, but when all this is over, no one should forget that she said this.”
Kelly responded by calling out Nichols for his holier-than-thou social media messaging. “Making your list and checking it twice?…you don’t scare me, @RadioFreeTom. And your sanctimony is repulsive.”

Another back and forth occurred between the two in which Megyn Kelly accused her adversary of being the one engaging in attention seeking.
I understand. You know you’ll get attention if you mention me. Fire away my dear! https://t.co/cpkgHezewX

While characterizing Wednesday’s violence as shameful, Megyn Kelly also chided Democrats and their unhinged media sycophants for spiking the football despite insisting that the looting, arson, and other forms of violence in the civil unrest over the summer constituted mostly peaceful protests.
*Rioters’ shameful acts did enormous damage to their cause today.
*Media’s hypocrisy in condemning riots so indignantly after downplaying violent BLM riots all summer is obvious;
*Much to blame for what happened—namely: 4 yrs of Ds, Trump & media destroying all norms/trust.— Megyn Kelly (@megynkelly) January 7, 2021
Agree w/this. However, what we also saw yesterday was Ds/anchors/pundits trying to turn the chaos into a spike-the-ball moment for themselves meant to justify 4yrs of unhinged behavior (Russiagate/impeachment) & media bias toward Trump/his supporters. That can’t be undone. https://t.co/ip1GWqo43D

The left-wing echo chamber on Twitter quickly condemned the former Fox News and NBC News anchor for resisting the knee-jerk anti-Trump narrative, with Megyn responding to one of them. And others rose to her defense. Here is a sample:
Correct. And I am saying to declare the non-stop maligning of Trump & his supporters for the last 4 years validated as a result of the terrible actions of this group today is unfounded. For that I was attacked by Tom & his buds, who want only to be validated in their hatred.

Megyn, you’ve become one of the more rational voices out there. We thank you for speaking and standing.

He’s gonna make sure no one ever forgets that you said 74 million people shouldn’t be judged by the actions of a few dozen. I just hope you can live with that hyperlink on your Wikipedia page.

Tom is upset that in 14 days he becomes completely irrelevant.

Ah yes, Trump’s rhetoric is why we are in this situation. pic.twitter.com/FXx0zR6TL2

He wants attention from the followerbase that is 5-6x larger than his own.
