Bay area brewery fights the elite’s champagne Covid crackdown

A northern California brewery owner who organized a December 30th protest against the state’s ban on outdoor dining, claims that frustrating and tiresome restrictions that are devastating small businesses like hers are un-American. “So many businesses, through no fault of their own, have lost everything,” Pacifica Brewery co-owner Hellen Nasser, who is seeking to get the ban lifted, declared.

Bringing forth some common sense to the Fox News platform, Nasser also pointed out that the government has allowed big-box retailers to stay open despite the fact that “it’s impossible to adhere to the guidelines in these big corporate retail stores…yet the establishments that are following the guidelines are being shut down. It’s un-American.”

In a segment on FNC’s The Next Revolution called “the elite’s champagne crackdown,” Nasser also explained that her brewery — which has complied with the health guidelines issued by public health officials — is facing many of the same challenges as other thousands of restaurants and small businesses across the country, given draconian COVID-related regulations, and the new stimulus bill won’t provide much help.

“This new PPP rollout is too little, too late, for many businesses that cannot withstand any more shutdowns, and we’re fighting for the state of California to reopen us effectively immediately, reopen outdoor dining at the very least, outdoor establishments at the very least, because the science is on our side,” she told host Steve Hilton.

“They keep telling us the data and the science — look to the science and the data. We have followed and adhered to every single guideline that was set forth back in May, and we continuously set those guidelines and stayed safe; our customers stayed safe, and our staff has been safe, and we’ve not had one outbreak for the last six months…it is so frustrating and it’s just so tiresome.”

Parenthetically, Hilton may have come up with the name for this segment because in the U.K. where he is from, the British version of limousine liberals — like many of the U.S. Democrat elected officials (plus their supporters) who are imposing economy-crushing COVID lockdowns — are often known as champagne socialists.

Apparently perhaps alluding to lockdown-loving Gov. Gavin Newsom being caught violating his own executive orders while dining at an upscale French restaurant after Hilton played a clip of Newsom chiding some business owners for allegedly not caring about the health of their communities, Nasser added that “it’s do as I say, not as I do. He should, you know, apply those to himself.”

Nasser then reaffirmed the protocols that Pacifica Brewery in the San Francisco Bay area, which describes itself as a gastropub, has implemented.

“We have complied completely with every single guideline they have set forth. We have complied mask-wearing, diligent cleaning. If you come in to our establishments, restaurant establishments in particular, breweries, and all of these establishments, follow like hospitals in terms of the health codes.”

“We are very, very, very, strict on what goes in and out of our establishments, and it is insane that that is what he’s saying.”

Newsom’s pandemic policies have prompted a recall effort against him which continues to gain momentum.

Nasser went on to reveal that about one-third of her customers are doctors and nurses who are in transit. “A lot of them are traveling in-state to help out our hospitals, and they have nowhere to eat. They aren’t in hotels with food. They come to us and tell us that this is one place where they feel the safest.”

During the December 30th peaceful protest, Nasser told NBC Bay Area that “The small businesses, the hair salons and gyms, the breweries and restaurants, we’re all being snuffed out and nobody’s hearing our plea. I reached out to Congress, the county, the health department…We’ve asked the city, the county, the state to show us the data that indicates outdoor dining is connected to transmission, and we’ve received zero data.”

Similar protests have occurred in Los Angeles County.
