Fed-up woman hailed as hero for refusing to wear mask in CVS: ‘I’m done…not doing it anymore!’

A woman is being hailed as a hero for declaring she is “done” with being a sheep and blindly following COVID-19 orders restricting her freedom.

A now-viral video showed a woman making the case against wearing masks and complying with directives while she was shopping at a California CVS store. The shopper was apparently refused service at the counter because she refused to wear any face protection, though it was the store policy. She repeatedly defended her decision, and argued that the “lie” will continue as long as people do not push back.

Two videos were posted on Twitter by a user named Ty Stiklorious, who is the manager of recording artist John Legend, and purportedly happened in a CVS store in Los Angeles.

“My son & I were at CVS in Los Angeles, the epicenter of the virus where 1 person is dying every 10 mins from COVID-19 & this woman was refusing to wear a mask & arguing with everyone,” Stiklorius wrote on the first video post. “The selfishness she exhibited was intense. It blew our minds. My 10-yr-old has more sense.”

The unidentified woman was seen challenging employees at the pharmacy who refused to serve her until she put on a face mask.

“Doesn’t it occur to anyone that this doesn’t make any sense?” the woman said. “That healthy people should be treated like they’re sick?”

Employees could be heard arguing with the woman to wear a mask for service, to follow the state mandate and abide by the store’s coronavirus policies.

“Why would I follow the nonsensical rule?” the shopper asked. “Why would I be treated like a sick person?”

“I will report you. I will report you,” the woman said after one employee informed her that the store’s policy allows them to refuse her service if she does not comply. “So you are breaking a law here, not me.”

A healthcare worker in the store stepped in to tell the woman about the number of coronavirus patients overwhelming hospitals, as was seen in a second video posted by Stiklorious who wrote that the nurse “tries to reason with her, as do I.”

“There’s like 36 people with COVID in the ICU. Whenever there’s a flu, there’s only two or three patients at a time in the ICU,” the nurse explained. “Literally the entire hospital is COVID cases. This has never happened.”

“I’m not saying COVID’s not real, I’m just saying I’m not sick,” the woman pushed back, adding that asymptotic spread of the virus “has been shown to be a myth.”

“Why am I going to be treated like a sick person?” she asked. “This is not what they are telling us it is. It’s a lie.”

Reiterating that it is a lie, the shopper said “everyone’s buying it” and it “will go on and on and on as long as they feed us this lie and we comply with it.”

“I’m done! Tonight, I reached a breaking point and I’m done! I know I’m not reaching anyone here, I don’t care,” she added as an older woman approached her and apparently tried to give her a mask to wear.

“I’m a healthy person. I’m not crazy,” she said. “This is like psychosis for everyone to put all this stuff on their face when they’re healthy.”

The other shopper appeared to tell the woman that she was an off-duty officer with the Los Angeles Police Department and was going to call the police.

“Go ahead!” the shopper responded. “They cant arrest me because there’s no law.”

Stiklorious interjected after the woman said she had just come it to buy Epsom salts and a corkscrew, asking her if she was “willing to risk people’s lives” by shopping maskless.

“No, I’m not risking anyone’s lives because I’m healthy,” the exasperated woman shot back.

“How do we know that you’re healthy?” the videographer questioned.

“I’m fine, look at me!” she responded, reiterating that there is no asymptomatic spread of coronavirus.

“I don’t have symptoms. I’m fine,” she said. “It’s not just the masks, it’s the social distancing, it’s the lockdowns, it’s everything. I’m not doing it anymore. I’m not doing it anymore, I’m done.”

It is not clear how the debate ended but noted that the police arrived and the woman eventually left.

The viral video sparked plenty of reaction on Twitter where some agreed with store employees that the woman should have complied with mask-wearing orders. But many applauded the shopper for standing up to the “busy-body” shoppers who jumped in to lecture her.
