U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks has vowed to continue the fight to contest the results of the 2020 election and joined more than a dozen of his colleagues in requesting a House hearing into the alleged fraud.
The Alabama Republican joined 18 other lawmakers in sending a letter Thursday seeking election fraud hearings before the Electoral College vote submissions set for January 6. The letter was addressed to Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and other House and Senate chairs, citing violations of the Constitution’s Election Clause.
The letter requesting voter-fraud and election-theft hearings reminded the government leaders of their responsibility to uphold the Constitution amid questions about how violations of law in last month’s races “affected and altered federal elections within various states.”
“Under the Constitution and federal statutes, Congress is responsible for resolving all federal election contests for President, the Senate and the House,” Brooks tweeted Thursday as he announced the letter.
Brooks, who has been delivering a series of speeches on the House floor contesting the election results and backing President Donald Trump’s allegations on election integrity, is calling for Congress to do its job and investigate the claims.
“America’s republic is dependent on the actual and perceived honesty and accuracy of the elections which are the underpinning of all republics,” the letter stated.
“Inasmuch as it is inevitable that Congress will face one or more election contests, likely to include that for President of the United States, we, the undersigned, request that your committees do their jobs on behalf of our country,” it continued, “and immediately and without delay hold all evidentiary and other hearings necessary to fully investigate and probe the anomalies of the 2020 general election so that Congressmen and Senators will be fully informed as we face contests and questions about the legitimacy and validity of all federal elections held on November 3, 2020.”

“This request has particular urgency due to federal law mandating that all objections to the receipt of various state electoral college vote submissions be made on January 6, 2021,” the letter stated.
The lawmakers asked for hearings to “probe all allegations of illegal conduct” said to have occurred in the November elections, as well as any “systemic problems” affecting U.S. elections. They asked to “hear from election experts to explore legislative solutions that lessen the impact of fraudulent and illegal votes and restores faith that America can hold a free and fair election.”

Brooks was joined by several of his House colleagues, including Reps. Andy Biggs of Arizona, Jim Banks of Indiana, Louie Gohmert and Randy Weber of Texas, and Mike Garcia of California.

Brooks reiterated to Fox Business host Lou Dobbs earlier this week that he will continue the fight to challenge the presidential election results when Congress convenes on January 6 to certify the Electoral College votes.
“So I have a choice, I can either sit back and surrender and be a part of the surrender caucus, or I can fight for our country,” the GOP lawmaker declared.

Brooks has been addressing his colleagues in speeches on the House floor, reminding lawmakers that the U.S. Constitution and federal law “make Congress, and not the Supreme Court, the judge of who wins presidential elections.”
McConnell came under heavy fire this week after he congratulated Democratic nominee Joe Biden on securing the Electoral College votes and for warning GOP senators not to object to the results or join a floor fight to challenge votes next month.
Brooks hoped it was “fake news,” telling Newsmax that he found it hard to believe anyone would voluntarily want to surrender the fight.

The lawmaker added that he is “cautiously optimistic” that at least one senator will back the efforts to contest the Electoral College votes.
