Fox News has begun to sluggishly admit that its Election Night projections were atrociously off the mark, though it appears that the way it’s chosen to make the admission hasn’t earned it any forgiveness from its enraged former fans.
“On Election Night, the Fox News decision desk correctly predicted soon after 9:00 eastern that Democrats would retain control of the House,” Fox News host Bret Baier began during a questionable backtrack Wednesday.
True, but virtually every pollster in America had predicted the same …
Where Fox News had screwed up royally was in its projection that Democrats would add five seats to their House majority. That certainly never happened.
“But they also estimated Democrats would add about five seats to their majority. That did not occur. Republicans have gained six seats with multiple races yet to be decided,” Baier continued.
As of Thursday morning, Republicans were up a total of nine seats and counting.

The backtracking did little to quell the rising tide of anger aimed at Fox.
Look:

Not only did Fox News’ so-called Election Desk prematurely project major House wins for the Democrats, but the network also prematurely projected a Democrat victory in Arizona despite polls having not even closed yet in the West Coast state.
The network was in fact the first to call the race in Arizona for Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden and Democrat Senate nominee Mark Kelly.
Yet over a week later, Arizona still remains uncalled by The New York Times, NBC News, Reuters, and even CNN.
Case in point:
Fox has faced backlash from President Donald Trump’s 2020 campaign and some Fox News hosts and commentators over its Arizona decision.
“It was a premature call. We were livid. … As this narrows, there is going to be great pressure on you guys, to be honest with you, Fox News, to rescind your call. This is going to lead Biden to falsely declare himself the president-elect at some point,” campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh predicted a day after the election.
Three days later, Fox News joined a slew of other networks in prematurely declaring Biden the winner of the 2020 presidential election.

The president promptly responded via a statement.
“We all know why Joe Biden is rushing to falsely pose as the winner, and why his media allies are trying so hard to help him: they don’t want the truth to be exposed. The simple fact is this election is far from over,” he said.
“Joe Biden has not been certified as the winner of any states, let alone any of the highly contested states headed for mandatory recounts, or states where our campaign has valid and legitimate legal challenges that could determine the ultimate victor.”
This fact still holds true nearly a week later.
Fox’s decision to make premature calls and then double down on some of them have led its ratings to plummet so precipitously that it’s “hired a crisis management team to handle PR,” according to Newsmax White House correspondent Emerald Robinson:

A FOX news spokesperson denies this allegation.
Moreover, CNN has reportedly scored its first ratings victory over Fox in years.
“CNN averaged 5.941 million viewers and Fox News Channel 5.726 million for its prime-time programming between Nov. 2 and Sunday, according to live-plus-same-day figures released Tuesday by Nielsen,” the Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday.
