It turns out Rachel from “Friends” has some really questionable opinions on the upcoming election.
Jennifer Aniston, often dubbed “America’s Sweetheart” may have just lost a portion of her fanbase after taking to Instagram on Friday to make a decidedly liberal (and arguably oxymoronic) political call to action.
Under a photo of her casting her mail-in ballot for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, the popular actress lit into Donald Trump over a veritable buffet of left-wing talking points: Abortion, racism, COVID-19 and of course, the LGBTQ+ community. Apparently, the delicious taste of victimhood was too hard to resist for someone with a net worth of somewhere around $300 million.
“I voted for them because right now this country is more divided than ever. Right now, a few men in power are deciding what women can and can’t do with their own bodies. Our current President has decided that racism is a non-issue. He has repeatedly and publicly ignored science… too many people have died,” Aniston lamented hyperbolically.
“I urge you to really consider who is going to be most affected by this election if we stay on the track we’re on right now… your daughters, the LGBTQ+ community, our Black brothers and sisters, the elderly with health conditions, and your future kids and grandkids (who will be tasked with saving a planet that our leadership refuses to believe is hurting).”
Hey Jen, they don’t give out awards for the Most Dramatic Social Media Post of the year, so you can dial it back.
“This whole thing isn’t about one candidate or one single issue, it’s about the future of this country and of the world. Vote for equal human rights, for love, and for decency,” she concluded, despite having spent that entire time attacking “one candidate” while bragging about voting for the other. An irony that, rest assured, is lost on someone for whom the ability to virtue signal is their only meal ticket in 2020 Hollywood.
But here’s where it gets good. Because it’s actually not over (Unfortunately).
While calling out Trump for not caring enough about racism (and admitting she is casting her ballot for a man who had a hand in the mass incarceration of African American men,) Aniston took one final parting shot – but not at the president.
“PS – It’s not funny to vote for Kanye. I don’t know how else to say it. Please be responsible.”
Ah yes, because nothing says “I care for my black brothers and sisters” and “I hate racism” quite like saying that it isn’t “responsible” to vote for the only high profile person of color to be running for the presidency. (And again, doing this in the same post that you’re advocating for Joe “racial jungle” Biden and Kamala “that little girl was me” Harris.)
Of course, the comments section of this political prostration was filled with a litany of blue-checked accounts and average people jumping at the opportunity to tell Aniston how brave and inspiring she is for saying what could very well have been copied and pasted from the “How To Be A Democrat For Dummies” instruction manual. But this is something one can come to expect in the year 2020 when wealthy white celebrities can get away with telling me that an old white guy who has been in political power for longer than I’ve been alive is suddenly going to fix an issue that he helped create before I was born.
I loved her in “He’s Just Not That Into You,” but I think it’s time for “The Breakup.”
