When on the stump, President Trump is known to talk about how the left in America seems to hate their country, and he often holds up Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., as an example.

A Somali refugee who came to the United States as a young girl, Omar often criticizes the country that took her in as a racist nation, and has also displayed anti-Semitism, though the Muslim lawmaker has toned that down of late.

One of the first two Muslim women elected to Congress and one of the radical left freshman Democrats known as “the squad,” Omar was given a platform on MSNBC Sunday evening to push back against Trump’s criticism and she did not disappoint, projecting everything Democrats now stand for on Trump while claiming she loves America more than he does.

“I would certainly reckon, not only Somalis, but myself, the governor of Michigan, our speaker, all love this country way more than the president, who’s not only destroying the presidency but everything this country stands for,” Omar said.

Omar, who laughed at Americans for their fear of al Qaeda and once described the 9/11 terrorist attack as “some people did something,” took to Twitter Sunday night to call the president a “sexist” while playing the victim, blaming him for threats made against her — instead of her own words and actions.

“Donald Trump’s repeated unhinged, conspiratorial attacks on me and other prominent female politicians are not just sexist. They are leading to frequent threats against our lives. It has to stop,” Omar said in an MSNBC clip she shared.

On Saturday night, Omar tweeted: “He is unraveling. What you are witnessing is the weakest expression of strength. It’s similar to the final acts of fallen dictators. We will outlast him because our stronger.”

She has also called Trump a “white supremacist” — in an appearance on MSNBC, of course.

While campaigning in Michigan on Saturday, Trump pointed to Omar as one of the reasons he will carry the state.

“Ilhan Omar, who truly hates our country, but she’s one of the reasons we’re going to win the great state,” he said.

The president repeated that theme while campaigning Friday in Ocala, Florida.

“She hates our country,” he said. “She comes from a place that doesn’t even have a government and then she comes here, she tells us how to run our country, and she hates our country.”

Naming Speaker Nancy Pelosi, he denounced Democrats for hating Israel and for supporting Omar, and mentioned the persistent claims about Omar marrying her biological brother.

One thing is certain, Omar’s personal life is a hot mess.

She married Ahmed Nur Said Elmi in 2009. According to some reports, Elmi is her brother and the marriage was a cover to allow him to come to the U.S.

Though she was married to Elmi, Omar lived with another man, Ahmed Hirsi, the father of her three children. She allegedly married Hirsi in a faith-based ceremony in 2002 before splitting in 2008. They supposedly got back together in 2012, but there were reports that Omar, Elmi and Hirsi all lived together in the same family home, according to the New York Post.

In 2017, Omar officially divorced Elmi, who now lives in Europe, and would legally marry Hirsi in 2018.

The nuptials proved to be short term, as Omar filed for divorce the following year after it was reported that she was having an affair with political consultant Tim Mynett.

(For what it’s worth, Hirsi remarried 37 days later — the irony being that Omar had filed for divorce on her 37th birthday.)

Omar quietly married Mynett in March 2020, and her campaign has steered over $1 million to her third husband’s firm for the 2020 election cycle.
