Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and his merry band of censors may currently hold all the cards in dictating what the truth is, but their heavy-handed approach to controlling the platform leading up to the presidential election doesn’t account for one thing.
Missing from their calculations is the indelible American spirit heavily steeped in revolution — meaning the one thing sure to rile up an American is to tell them what they cannot do.
White House coronavirus task force member Dr. Scott Atlas got into hot water with Twitter when he posted tweets arguing that masks are ineffective. He was locked out of his account over the weekend until he deleted the offending tweets, according to The Federalist.
On Monday, with access to his account reestablished, Atlas shared a pair of quotes from George Orwell’s iconic novel, “1984.”
“The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.”
“And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed—if all records told the same tale—then the lie passed into history and became truth.”

The Federalist’s David Marcus was spot on in his characterization of what Twitter is doing.
“Twitter, which claims to be a neutral platform and enjoys legal protection as such, has once again proven that not only does it have an editorial agenda, it has a political one,” he wrote. “You see, the information overlords at Twitter dot com will decide what information and what facts the masses like you and me are allowed to consume on their platform.”
This being a critical assessment, coming 15 days from the election.
Atlas, a senior fellow at the Stanford University Hoover Institution, nailed it when he said he expected President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump would make a “complete, full and rapid recovery” after testing positive for COVID-19.
“It is no surprise that people get the infection, even with precautions,” he said. “I anticipate a complete and full and rapid recovery back to normal after his necessary confinement period. I anticipate he’ll be back on the road and in full swing.”

A prediction that drew a rebuke from Fox News host Chris Wallace, who questioned Atlas’ medical credentials.
“Well, I’m gonna say something — and folks, I’m just trying to give you the truth. Dr. Scott Atlas is not an epidemiologist, is not an infectious disease specialist,” Wallace said earlier this month. “He has no training in this area at all. There are a number of top people on the president’s coronavirus task force who have had grave concerns about Scott Atlas and his scientific bona fides.”
