Democrats are at their best when they can climb high upon their moral authority perch and play the victim.
This means Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, who was the target of a recently foiled kidnapping plot, was in her element Saturday when President Trump made a passing reference to her during a campaign rally in her state.
The president was speaking to supporters in Muskegon and he told them they have to get the governor to open up the state, to include opening schools.
The raucous crowd began chanting, “Lock her up,” which prompting Trump to reply with a smile, “Lock her up? Lock ’em all up!”

“And then I guess they said she was threatened, right? She was threatened,” Trump went on to say. “And she blamed me. She blamed me. And our people were the ones that worked with her people so let’s see what happens. Let’s see what happens.”
This being portrayed in the media as “casting doubt” about the incident.
The Democratic Party outrage machine wasted no time kicking into gear, led by the heavy-handed governor, who just saw her coronavirus-driven executive orders ruled unconstitutional by the state Supreme Court — the court also rejected her request to delay the effect of the opinion until Oct. 31.
Taking to social media, Whitmer proclaimed, “This is exactly the rhetoric that has put me, my family, and other government officials’ lives in danger while we try to save the lives of our fellow Americans. It needs to stop.”

When arrests were made, Whitmer immediately blamed President Trump for being “complicit,” claiming those involved heard his words as a “rallying cry.” Never mind that one of the accused plotters was captured on video calling Trump “a tyrant.”
Whitmer’s deputy digital director, Tori Saylor followed in her boss’s footsteps when she tweeted, “I see everything that is said about and to her online. Every single time the President does this at a rally, the violent rhetoric towards her immediately escalates on social media. It has to stop. It just has to.”
Keep in mind, the “lock her up” chant pales in comparison to the hate-filled violent rhetoric often seen directed against Republicans.
The Trump Derangement Syndrome crowd, to include Never Trump Republicans who attack the president’s supporters to draw attention, ignored the spontaneous nature of the chant to falsely blame Trump for “getting” the crowd to do so.
Trump getting his crowd to chant "lock her up" about Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, who was recently the target of a plot to kidnap and murder her, is BEYOND DEPRAVED but sadly I'm pretty sure no one in that crowd cares at all

Despite Whitmer getting rejected twice for her unconstitutional actions during the pandemic, where at one point she banned residents from visiting family members, Democratic nominee Joe Biden said “there’s not a better governor” in the country during a visit last week.
Biden also blamed Trump for the kidnapping plot against Whitmer.
Comparing Trump to ISIS, Biden pointed to a tweet from the president that said, “Liberate Michigan.”
