In the event her eyebrows haven’t already tipped you off, Democratic Speaker Nancy Pelosi is all about sending messages — in the case of her migrating eyebrows, the 80-year-old politician is waging a battle with Mother Nature.
While there is no one in Washington, D.C., more responsible for the long delay in a follow-up pandemic relief effort than Pelosi, the speaker is trying to dupe Americans into thinking that she is eager to get a deal done.

Pelosi has been negotiating with Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin for some time now on a relief package and the two reportedly spoke for over an hour Saturday, with the speaker later imposing a 48-hour deadline to get a deal done.
“There remains an array of additional differences as we go provision by provision that must be addressed in a comprehensive manner in the next 48 hours,” Pelosi spokesman Drew Hammill said on Twitter. “Decisions must be made by the White House in order to demonstrate that the Administration is serious about reaching a bipartisan agreement that provides for Americans with the greatest needs during the pandemic.”

There were no consequences voiced if the deadline wasn’t met, but rest assured that with any deal expected to include another $1,200 stimulus check, Pelosi is not about to let checks stamped with President Trump’s name to flow to the American people ahead of the election.
Yet, she still needs to give the impression that she is serious about reaching a deal — thus the toothless deadline that captured plenty of headlines.
Critics claim that Speaker Pelosi has repeatedly tried to exploit the country’s suffering over the Chinese-inflicted pandemic by using relief measures to push through Democratic objectives.
One of her earlier efforts was an attempt to steer money to Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider. She also tried to push through a national vote by mail initiative that would have flooded the country with millions of ballots.
The latest hold up is largely centered on Pelosi trying to include a massive bailout for states deep in debt — see Democrat-led states.
Pelosi reached an adversarial anniversary on Friday, which marked one full year since she last spoke to the president of the United States.
The last time Trump and Pelosi spoke was on October 16, 2019, during a contentious sit-down at the White House. Since then, she led a sham impeachment of Trump and has frequently questioned his fitness for the office.
In an interview on friendly MSNBC, Pelosi said that “either through the airwaves or through the President’s intermediaries” they have been able to get things done.
She further justified her pettiness with this word salad: “So it isn’t as if it has to be person-to-person between the speaker and the president. It has to be knowledge for knowledge in terms of what we – what our purpose is, what we know about the challenge we face and what the possible solutions are.”
A spokesperson for Mnuchin told The Wall Street Journal the Treasury Secretary and Pelosi were expected to speak again on Monday night.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., posted a statement online Saturday announcing the Senate will vote next week on “hundreds of billions more dollars for relief programs that Democrats do not even oppose.”
He took a shot at the House leader in the process.
“Working families have already waited too long for Speaker Pelosi’s Marie Antoinette act to stop. Let’s make law,” the tweet said.
