Former White House physician Ronny Jackson is “concerned and convinced” that Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden is unfit to be president.
Jackson, who is running for Congress as a Republican in Texas, has not evaluated the former vice president but told reporters Tuesday that what he has seen of Biden on the campaign trail has him worried. The 53-year-old who served as physician to former President Barack Obama as well as President Trump expressed his concerns over Biden’s apparent cognitive decline and recommended he be tested.
“I’ve taken care of three presidents during three administrations, and I know exactly what’s required to sit in that seat at the Resolute Desk,” Jackson said on during an appearance on Fox News’ “Hannity.”
“Something’s going on here. Biden is not prepared for that,” Jackson added, calling out Trump’s critics who demanded every single medical piece of information on the president’s health but have articulated no concerns over Biden’s behavior.

On a phone call Tuesday organized by Trump’s campaign, Jackson addressed his concerns over Biden’s behavior as he spoke with reporters.
“I’m pretty familiar with what it takes both physically and cognitively to do that job and what the demands of that job are,” Jackson said.
“As a citizen, not as a candidate running for Congress, but as a citizen of this country, I’ve watched Joe Biden on the campaign trail and I am concerned and convinced that he does not have the mental capacity, the cognitive ability, to serve as our commander-in-chief and our head of state,” he added, according to Fox News.
“I really think that he needs some type of cognitive testing before he takes over the reigns as our commander in chief, if that is in the cards,” Jackson, who served under former President George W. Bush in the White House medical unit, said on the call.
Trump, who has frequently called attention to his opponent’s gaffes and mental lapses, addressed the issue again this week during a rally in Florida.
“We have somebody running that’s not 100 percent, he’s not 80 percent, he’s not 60 percent,” Trump told supporters in Sanford on Monday, warning that Biden would not be able to negotiate effectively with foreign leaders from China, Russia and North Korea who are “100 percent sharp.”
Trump had made note of Biden’s “particularly bad day” in Ohio earlier this week after the Democrat made campaign stops in Cincinnati and Toledo on Monday. Biden appeared to forget he was running for president, urged voters to register at a nonexistent website, and was challenged by chanting Trump supporters.

Biden spokesman Andrew Bates responded to Jackson’s comments about the Democrat’s mental acuity.
“I refer you to the first debate,” Bates said in a statement, according to Fox News.
Jackson, who was nominated by Trump to serve as Secretary of Veteran Affairs in March 2018, but withdrew amid allegations of misconduct which he denied, reiterated to reporters on the call Tuesday that he was not providing any official assessment of Biden’s mental or physical health.
“I’m not trying to remotely diagnose him with anything,” the retired Navy rear admiral said. “I’ve not accused him of having Alzheimer’s or anything of that nature.”
Jackson contended that the former vice president’s behavior on the campaign trail is not reflecting the “typical gaffes” he had been known to make in his years in office.
“They’re not the typical gaffes. He routinely gets in the middle of a thought and then loses his train of thought and then he can’t recalibrate where he’s at. He’s actually having a lot of trouble recently articulating words,” he said.
The Republican House candidate for Texas’ 13th congressional district noted that even Biden’s frequent displays of anger are a “mechanism” used by those with cognitive issues.
“As a physician I can tell you that’s a mechanism that folks that are having cognitive difficulties use to move on and to get out of a situation,” Jackson said.
“I’m concerned, like so many other people in this country are right now, that he is not up for the job. Like I said before, this is a demanding job from a cognitive standpoint,” he continued.
“You have to stay locked on. You have to be articulate. You have to process lots and lots of information and multitask,” he explained. “Right now, he’s having a really extreme time just focusing, you know, the one task at hand when he stands up in front of voters and tries to explain something.”
