When word first emerged that a group of men reportedly affiliated with a militia had been arrested for plotting to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, a Democrat, many assumed that they were pro-Trump Republicans, aka “deplorables.”
It didn’t help that Whitmer herself tried to blame the men’s actions on the president by essentially accusing him of being “complicit” in their crimes.
But as evidence emerged, it became increasingly evident that the arrested men’s ideological views do not align with those of the Republican Party.
Case in point: “One of alleged plotters, 23-year-old Daniel Harris, attended a Black Lives Matter protest in June, telling the Oakland County Times he was upset about the killing of George Floyd and police violence,” The Washington Post reported Friday.
A Pew Research Center poll conducted in September found that only 19 percent of Republicans versus an 88 percent majority of Democrats supported the movement.
And while it’s true conservatives also initially expressed disgust over George Floyd’s controversial death, they have always argued that alleged police brutality should be combated through the system, not through violent rioting and looting.
Another suspect, William Null, “drove to Flint to pass out water bottles alongside those involved in the Black Lives Matter movement” during the Flint water crisis.
He also expressed interest in starting his own My Life Matters movement. This movement reportedly eventually transformed into the Michigan Liberty Militia.
The Post’s report mentioned President Donald Trump only once.
Writing about Harris’s attorney, Parker Douglas, the Post reported that Harris had “said his client, in a brief meeting, had suggested he had voted for candidates from both parties, had not expressed a view on President Trump and seemed to favor small government.”
But according to other reporting, this apathetic political perspective wasn’t shared by all his peers. Another suspect, Brandon Caserta, had expressed views about the president — namely negative views that he’d reportedly broadcasted on YouTube.

Wow! This is big. Brandon Caserta, one of the ringleaders of the group of men arrested for a plot where the group planned to kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, hated President Trump too!

He’d also trashed the police and the Declaration of Independence:

Also, take note of the anarchist flag behind him.
After the men were arrested last week, Whitmer held a presser Thursday during which she tried to blame their planned actions on the president of the United States.
“Just last week, the president of the United States stood before the American people and refused to condemn white supremacists and hate groups like these two Michigan militia groups. ‘Stand back and stand by,’ he told them. Stand back and stand by,” she said.
Fact-check: FALSE.
He did condemn white supremacists (again), and his “stand back and stand by” remarks had been directed at the Proud Boys, a multiracial group of conservative activists who uphold freedom and liberty, not hate.
“Hate groups heard the president’s words, not as a rebuke, but as a rallying cry, as a call to action. When our leaders speak, their words matter. They carry weight,” Whitmer continued.
“When our leaders meet with, encourage, or fraternize with domestic terrorists, they legitimize their actions and they are complicit. When they stoke and contribute to hate speech, they are complicit.”

But at least one of the men supported Black Lives Matter, which some believe is a genuine hate group, and Whitmer has a history of praising this very same group.
In fact, four months ago she marched with BLM extremists while not even following the social distancing rules that she’d been demanding of everybody else.

Dovetailing back to Whitmer’s presser on Thursday, later that evening host Laura Ingraham of Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle” opined that the arrested men “look like they’re anarchists and not right-wingers.”

Technically, they appear to “look like anarchists” who’re supportive of the demonstrably left-wing Black LIves Matter and anti-cop movements …
