[Editor’s Note: We initially reported that the White House denied early reports that the president received oxygen. But subsequent reports have since confirmed that President Trump did, indeed, undergo brief oxygen therapy at the White House shortly before departing for Walter Reed Medical Center on Friday, per the recommendation of pulmonologist Dr. Sean Conley.]

Despite being diagnosed with the coronavirus and later flown to Walter Reed Military Medical Center late Friday, President Donald Trump staunchly maintains that things are “going well” and that he’s “doing very well.”

“Going well, I think! Thank you to all. LOVE!!!” he tweeted at 11:31 pm Friday evening.

The tweet was posted exactly five hours after the president posted a video announcing that he would be departing for Walter Reed Medical Center.

“I want to thank everybody for the tremendous support. I’m going to Walter Reed hospital. I think I’m doing very well, but we’re going to make sure that things work out,” he said.

He added, “The First lady is doing very well. So, uh, thank you very much. I appreciate it. I will never forget it. Thank you.”

Look at both tweets below:

After recording the video message, the president could be seen exiting the White House and walking across the South Lawn toward Marine One.

Along the way, he confidently flashed his signature thumbs-up:

He also abstained from taking questions, a fact that for some reason piqued the attention of White House correspondent Jim Acosta.

As of Saturday morning, the tweet below by the infamous newsman boasted over 23,000 comments (most of them extremely negative) but only about 7,000 retweets:

About two hours after the president’s departure, Acosta resurfaced yet again on CNN’s “Anderson Cooper Live,” where he claimed via CNN’s habitually anonymous sources that “the president has been having some trouble breathing.”

Listen:

But in a statement issued to Fox News shortly thereafter, a senior Trump administration official denied the difficulty breathing accusation and called Acosta’s reporting “outright disgraceful.”

A couple of hours later, the president’s own doctor, Physician to the President Sean Conley, confirmed that President Trump was indeed “doing very well” and “is not requiring any supplemental oxygen.”

“This afternoon, in consultation with specialists from Walter Reed and Johns Hopkins University, I recommended movement of the President up to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for further monitoring,” he said.

This evening I am happy to report that the President is doing very well. He is not requiring any supplemental oxygen, but in consultation with specialists we have elected to initiate Remdesivir therapy. He has completed his first dose and is resting comfortably.”

The drug Remdesivir has shown some promising results.

“The Trump administration issued an emergency use authorization for Remdesivir earlier this year after the drug showed moderate effectiveness in improving outcomes for patients who were hospitalized with the coronavirus,” The Hill notes.

Speaking on Fox News’ “The Story” back in March, guest Susan Kane told host Martha MacCallum that her husband had been successfully treated with Remdesivir after testing positive for the coronavirus.

“He was admitted on Monday. He was given his first dose on Tuesday. By Wednesday, he was improving dramatically. His fever went down from 103 to just under 100. By that night, he said that it didn’t feel as tight or as much pressure on his chest,” she said.

Listen:

Actor Mel Gibson also experienced positive results from the drug.

Conley had announced earlier Friday afternoon that the president had been given an experimental antibody injection developed by Regeneron and was also taking zinc, vitamin D, famotidine, melatonin and aspirin.

Ever since the president and first lady Melania Trump announced their COVID diagnosis, quite a few others close to them have also tested positive, including top aide Hope Hicks, former White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, Republican National Committee chair Ronna McDaniel, Sen. Mike Lee and Sen. Thom Tillis.

Thus far it seems everybody has reported experiencing “mild symptoms” at the worst.

The New York Times claimed via anonymous sources early Saturday morning that the president “has a fever, congestion and a cough.” This has yet to be confirmed.
