Actor Anthony Anderson launched into a bizarre routine with Emmys host Jimmy Kimmel during the Sunday awards show in which he appears to couch a heavy dose of white shaming and guilt as a comedy bit.

The scene begins with Anderson, who has filled in to host “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” in the past, appearing to go off-script.

“I have something I’d like to say,” Anderson, star of the hit comedy “Black-ish,” says, as Kimmel pretends to be caught off-guard.

“You know, we have a record number of black Emmy nominees this year which is great,” Anderson says, as both he and Kimmel look into the camera.

**Warning: Strong language

After a pause, Anderson turns to Kimmel and says, “This is the part where the white people start to applaud.”

“Oh,” Kimmel responds, as he begins to clap.

“And nod,” Anderson interjects, as Kimmel begins nodding.

“These Emmys would have been NBA All-Star Weekend and Wakanda all wrapped into one. This was supposed to be the blackest Emmys ever,” Anderson continues. “Y’all wouldn’t have been able to handle how black it was going to be. But because of COVID we can’t even get in the damned building.”

At that, Kimmel interrupts to ‘thank’ Anderson, who ignores the host and continues his rant.

“These Emmys would have been so black, it would have been hot-sauce-in-your-purse black. It would have been Howard-University-Homecoming black. It would have been you-fit-the-description black,” Anderson says.

“Well, I’m sorry that it wasn’t that, it woulda been great,” Kimmel notes, as Anderson interrupts again.

“We would have had speeches quoting our great poets like Maya Angelou, Langston Hughes, Cardi B,” Anderson continues before adding, “WAP, Jimmy, WAP” — a reference to the latter’s current vulgar hit single with Megan Thee Stallion — before being bleeped by the network presumably for quoting some of the lyrics.

“Oh, the song!” Kimmel says.

“Instead of that sexy melanated energy, here I am, alone, in a sterilized green room, trying not to sneeze on a llama. What a damn shame,” Anderson says,

Kimmel interjects, “Actually, it’s an alpaca.”

“Don’t white-splain it to me, Jimmy! It shoulda been a pit bull,” says Anderson.

“Sorry,” Kimmel responds meekly.

“But not tonight. No, not tonight,” the Black-ish star continues. “This isn’t what it shoulda been, Jimmy.

“But you know what? I’m still rooting for everyone black. Because black stories, black performances, and black lives matter,” Anderson continues, before demanding that Kimmel repeat the phrase with him.

“Say it with me, Jimmy,” he said, imploring Kimmel to say it repeatedly, and louder.

“Louder Jimmy! Say it so that [Vice President] Mike Pence can hear it!” Anderson yells.

”That’s right, and because black lives matter, black people will stay at home tonight to be safe. Which is fine, because guess what? Y’all don’t know how to light us anyway,” Anderson says.

He then goes on to ‘thank’ Kimmel again, saying, “I appreciate you giving me a safe space to say this from.”

“Well, it’s my pleasure, you know that,” Kimmel notes.

The routine was widely panned on social media.

“The setup for this routine is that Jimmy Kimmel, a white man, yields to the belligerent black actor because the social consequences of not doing so would be severe….. and there’s no punchline because it isn’t a joke,” noted “America First” host Nick Fuentes.
