If you weren’t aware the 72nd Emmy Awards show was on Sunday night, odds are that you have plenty of company, as the event has lost much of its allure to average Americans after Hollywood went all in on its liberal politics.
Adding to the likelihood that you may not have been aware, ‘Crying’ Jimmy Kimmel was the host of the virtual presentation, and the late night talk show host lived down to the billing.
Kimmel showcased the hypocrisy on the left when he made an inappropriate joke about reporting late-night competitor John Oliver, who is from the United Kingdom, to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
“Last Week Tonight With John Oliver” took home the trophy for Outstanding Talk Series — which was presented by Dave Letterman — a category that Kimmel’s show was also nominated in.
“Thank you so much to the Academy for sending what is technically a small bomb to my house. The way this year has gone I wouldn’t be surprised if this blew this room up and caused a small wildfire in New York,” Oliver joked, as he virtually received the award.
He noted that “variety shows are very fortunate to have been able to do our shows and not stop during the pandemic,” and appeared to pan all the protests over alleged police brutality.
Among those he thanked was his wife, Kate Norley, an Iraq War veteran who served as an Army medic.
“My wife, who has kept a two year old and a four year old out of this room as I’ve been trying to do the show,” Oliver said. “My four year old at one point did burst in and said ‘Dad, who are you talking to?’. I said ‘Nobody’. He said what are you talking about and I said ‘police brutality’. He said ‘That doesn’t sound fun’ and he wasn’t wrong about that.”

After going back to Kimmel, who is standing before a mystery box, he pulled out a participation award and Blu-Ray DVDs for the first two seasons of “Young Sheldon.”
“That’s way better than a stupid Emmy,” the Emmys host said. “Congratulations again to John Oliver, I will be reporting him to ICE tomorrow.”
The attempt at humor wasn’t well received online, but when it comes to cringeworthy, it may have paled in comparison to the bizarre routine Kimmel did with actor Anthony Anderson, which leaned heavy on using white shaming and guilt as a comedy bit.
Back to Kimmel’s ICE joke, Vulture Magazine rated it as a “low” moment in the show.
Here’s a sampling of responses to Kimmel threatening to report Oliver to immigration officials from Twitter — primarily from the left, who regularly demonize the agency tasked with enforcing our immigration laws:
Jimmy Kimmel joking about calling ICE on American citizen John Oliver was a bad look, even as a “sour grapes” gag. Pretty sure only one of them could pass the citizenship test.
