Steelers lineman Maurkice Pouncey, a black man, has become the only player on the team to backtrack from a vow to feature the name of a deceased drive-by shooter on the back of their helmets during this season’s games.
The drive-by shooter, Antwon Rose, was fatally shot in the back by East Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania authorities on June 19, 2018, while trying to flee.
Because he was shot in the back, Black Lives Matter activists falsely him as a victim and the officer who’d shot him as the bad guy. Local prosecutors bought this theory and charged the officer, but he was eventually found not guilty the following year.
This of course triggered only more “protests”:
Fast-forward to Monday, when the Steelers announced that every player on the team, save for offensive lineman Alejandro Villanueva, an Army veteran, would be honoring Rose by featuring his name on the back of their helmet.
This news provoked a reaction from black sports journalist Jason Whitlock, a man who abjectly refuses to accept Black Lives Matters’ fake narratives. Look at what he posted to Twitter early Wednesday morning:

Fact-check: TRUE.
“The beef was between me and him, that car came by, he shot me, I ran to the store,” drive-by victim William Ross told the authorities, according to a report by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette filed amid the since-acquitted officer’s trial.
But there’s more.
“[T]here is evidence that Antwon had gunshot residue on his hands, and that a stolen gun was found beneath the front passenger seat of the car. He also had an empty magazine in his pocket,” the report continued.
What specifically happened on June 19th, 2018, is that East Pittsburgh Police pulled over a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle that’d been used to commit a drive-by shooting on Ross just minutes earlier.
As the authorities were trying to handcuff the driver, Rose tried to flee. In response, the since-acquitted officer, believing Rose had a gun, opened fire, killing him.
A year later on March 22, 2019, a jury ruled the officer “not guilty” of first-degree murder, third-degree murder and voluntary manslaughter.
Apparently, none of this had been known by Pouncey, who issued a statement Thursday morning on Instagram backtracking from his decision to participate in the Steelers’ pro-criminal stunt.
“I want to personally clarify what transpired this past Monday night in regard to having Antwon Rose’s name on the back of my helmet,” he said.
“I was given limited information on the situation regarding Antwon, and I was unaware of the whole story surrounding his death and what transpired during the trial following the tragedy. I should have done more research to fully understand what occurred in its entirety.”

He added that henceforth, “I will make my own decisions about what to wear on the back of my helmet.”
He concluded his statement by essentially reminding potential critics that he still believes Black Lives Matter.
“Make no mistake, I am against racism and I believe the best thing I can do is to continue helping repair relationships between the police and their communities. System racism issues have occurred in our country for too long, and that needs to stop,” he said.
The overture didn’t work. In response to his statement, hateful BLM activists pounced by pulling a Joe Biden and effectively claiming he “ain’t black.”

You get the picture.
Some critics tried to argue that Rose’s accomplice, Zaijuan Hester, had “admitted” he was the real shooter. However, his so-called “admission” doesn’t negate the words of the actual victim.
Moreover, despite being the alleged actual shooter, Hester was convicted only on assault and firearms charges, not attempted murder.
Zaijuan Hester just pleased guilty to three counts of aggravated assault and four firearms charges for the drive-by shooting in North Braddock that preceded the death of Antwon Rose II in East Pittsburgh.
