When the Black Lives Matter movement first exploded on the scene in 2014 following the justified shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., after he violently attacked a police officer, the nation would ultimately see a rash of law enforcement officers being assassinated.
That same script is now playing out in America as two Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies were ambushed Saturday night in Compton as they sat in their patrol car by a suspect who “opened fire without warning or provocation,” according to officials.
“One male deputy and one female deputy were ambushed as they sat in their patrol vehicle. Both sustained multiple gunshot wounds and are in critical condition. They are both currently undergoing surgery. The suspect is still at large,” the department said in a tweet.
The failed assassin — at this time — is still at large.
A grainy video of the ambush was released by the LA County Sheriff’s Department showed the gunman, who was wearing black attire often associated with Antifa and Black Lives Matter protesters, walked up to the vehicle and opened fire without warning.
President Donald Trump shared the video, adding a sentiment felt by millions of Americans: “Animals that must be hit hard!”

The deputies, a 24-year-old male and a 31-year-old female were taken to the hospital and were “fighting for their lives,” according to another tweet. The deputies were from the same class and had been sworn in 14 months ago — the female deputy is reportedly the mother of a 6-year-old boy.
The deputies were reportedly out of surgery and in critical condition.
NEW: Sheriff Villanueva says one deputy is a 31 year old mom of a 6 year old boy, other is 24 year old male. Says both deputies are out of surgery with multiple gun shot wounds & critical. Says this is now a growing trend of police being targeted in current climate. @FOXLA

Sheriff Alex Villanueva held a news conference Saturday evening and suggested that the anti-police sentiment and unrest stirred by Black Lives Matter may have been a factor — being a Democrat, he did not name BLM.
“Actions, words have consequences and our job doesn’t get any easier because people don’t like law enforcement,” he said.

“That was a cowardly act,” Villanueva added. “The two deputies were doing their job, minding their own business, watching out for the safety of the people on the train.”
“To see somebody just walk up and start shooting on them. It pisses me off,” he said. “It dismays me at the same time. There’s no pretty way to say it.”
LAPD Capt. Gisselle Espinoza took to Twitter to call the gunman a “monster,” as she quoted Mathew 5:9, from the Bible.
“I hope this monster is caught soon,” Capt. Espinoza said in the tweet. “I’m sick to my stomach. The deputies are in my prayers. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.”
In what can only be described as despicable behavior, protesters showed up at the hospital where the two deputies were fighting for their lives and tried to force their way into the emergency room.
The husband of the female deputy was reportedly at the hospital after the shooting.
After the incident in Ferguson, there were a number of ambushes against police.
In Houston, a deputy was shot in the back of the head while getting gas. In New York City, two police officers were shot while sitting in their patrol car. In Dallas, following a Black Lives Matter protest, a gunman opened fire and killed five police officers.
None of which has deterred the Democratic Party, corporate America and the sports world from embracing the movement today.
Actor James Woods shared an appropriate tweet, given the position Democrats have taken in support of bailing out rioters after they are arrested.
Citing a tweet to that effect from Democratic nominee Joe Biden’s running mate, Sen. Kamala Harris, Woods asked: “You going to bail out the #Compton triggerman too?”
