Tucker Carlson demanded to know “why in the world” President Trump agreed to give an interview to veteran journalist Bob Woodward and raised questions about the part played by Sen. Lindsey Graham.
The Fox News host thought it “surprising” that Trump spoke to The Washington Post editor for his latest book about the White House and pointed an accusing finger at Graham “who helped convince” the president to do so. The South Carolina Republican also became the target of backlash for apparently encouraging the president to allow access to Woodward, who is no fan.

Carlson did not directly address Trump’s comments that have ignited a firestorm of Democrat condemnation but did focus on the folly of allowing the interview to take place to begin with and Graham’s motivation during a segment on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” Wednesday.
Trump came under fire this week over remarks he made in interviews he gave for Woodward’s upcoming book “Rage,” as he was heard in recordings released by the Watergate journalist appearing to play down concerns about the coronavirus pandemic.
“I wanted to, I wanted to always play it down. I still like playing it down, because I don’t want to create a panic,” the president said in the recorded interview.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi declared that Trump will lose the election over the comments and cost Republicans the Senate as well. Meanwhile, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden joined others in attacking Trump for the comment, claiming that if the president’s words are true, then he “knowingly and willingly lied” about the virus.
The president lashed out at Woodward in a tweet on Wednesday.
For years Fake stories and investigations, then the phony Russia, Russia, Russia HOAX, next Ukraine and the failed Impeachment, now the crummy Atlantic Magazine’s MADE UP STORY, and lastly, the political hit job by rapidly fading Bob Woodward and his boring book. It never ends!

Carlson wondered why Trump even agreed to the interview knowing the animosity of Woodward and the newspaper he has worked for since 1971, saying the book “trashes” Trump and is being released “just in time to influence the election.”
“Bob Woodward dislikes Donald Trump, he’s been very clear about that. Woodward works for Jeff Bezos’ personal newspaper The Washington Post, which has made defeating Donald Trump its all-consuming mission,” the Fox News host said Wednesday.
“What is surprising is that Donald Trump participated in making the book. The president sat for repeated interviews with Bob Woodward. Why in the world would he do that?” Carlson asked.
He went on to add that, according to a source, it was Graham “who helped convince Donald Trump to talk to Bob Woodward,” noting that the senator “brokered” the meeting and even allegedly sat in on the first interview.
“Lindsey Graham is supposed to be a Republican, so why would he do something like that? You would have to ask him,” he said.
“But keep in mind that Lindsey Graham has opposed — passionately opposed — virtually every major policy initiative that Donald Trump articulated when he first ran. From ending illegal immigration to pulling back from pointless wars to maintaining law and order at home,” Carlson noted.
“Lindsey Graham was against all of that, more than many Democrats. So maybe you already know the answer,” he concluded.
The speculation and the revelation about Graham sparked plenty of reactions on Twitter where his name was trending by Thursday and liberals relished the criticism.
With friends like Lindsey Graham, who needs enemies?

Instead of Lindsey Graham “getting to the bottom” of Spygate, he apparently spent his time convincing President Trump to talk with Bob Woodward.
No, I’m not kidding.

Graham acknowledged that he had made the recommendation to Trump during an interview with The Daily Beast.
“Yeah. The last book Woodward wrote, Trump said he didn’t know that he had wanted to be interviewed,” Graham said. “So I said, well, the guy is a well-known presidential author. And, you know, you got a chance to tell your side of the story. The president agreed and there you go.”
Trump reportedly spoke with Woodward multiple times for the upcoming book but, at some point, he apparently may have realized the journalist would not be delivering a complementary view of his administration. The president tweeted last month that the Woodward book “will be a FAKE.”
…The Bob Woodward book will be a FAKE, as always, just as many of the others have been. But, believe it or not, lately I’ve been getting lots of GREAT books!

He spoke with reporters on Wednesday about his remarks on the pandemic.
“We don’t want to have to show panic, we’re not going to show panic, and that’s exactly what I did, he said, describing the book as “another political hit job.”
