Just like the Democrat politicians whom she adores, leftist MSNBC host Joy Reid has rarely ever apologized for her many grievous errors in judgment.
And so not surprisingly, she’s refused to apologize for her most recent error, which involved her claiming on Monday that President Donald Trump has been “radicalizing” his supporters in a way comparable to “the way Muslims act.”
To be clear, the evidence suggests that the left has become radicalized, not the right.

Regardless, Reid’s comparison triggered widespread outrage from her fellow leftists, including Muslims such as Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib.
In response, Reid delivered a spiel Wednesday evening in which she effectively “doubled down” with a “non-apology,” as angrily noted by The Daily Beast, which is a mainstream outlet that’s about as far-left as MSNBC.

She began by describing the “blanket portrayals” often used to describe Muslims.
“For decades, America’s Muslim community has endured blanket portrayals that focus on one thing, not their families or individual achievements or even anything about Islam. Nope, just one thing: terrorism,” she said.
“Particularly after 9/11, profiling became a near American obsession for anybody brown, God forbid with a beard or headscarf, whether they were Muslim or not. Traveling through an airport could be hell. Physical attacks on not just Muslims, but Sikhs, who are not Muslim, increased.”
Some cases of profiling have actually been exposed as hoaxes.
Reid then asked why this same blanket judgment isn’t directed at “right-wingers.”
“We’re all too quick to call out those who radicalize young men who are vulnerable. There have been treatments of this all over cable news for years,” she said.
“But when white Christians are radicalized, we don’t react the same way. When was the last time Donald Trump or anyone in his campaign was asked if they are willing to condemn the Boogaloo Boys by name?”
The same could be asked of the Democrats, who’ve thus far refused to condemn the far-left Black Lives Matter and Antifa extremists responsible for rioting, looting, vandalism, arson, and murder. Plus, unlike BLM and Antifa extremists, the Boogaloo Boys haven’t killed anybody.
The MSNBC host then finally addressed her widely panned comparison by first accusing her critics of acting in “bad faith.” This is a common refrain among members of the left who’d rather cry “bad faith” than listen to their critics.
“I asked that question on Monday, and there was a lot of conversation, particularly online after the segment aired, some of which was frankly not in good faith,” Reid said.
“But some of the conversation reflected the genuine feelings of people who have been subjected to the kind of stereotyping that I just described. And who take matters like this to heart because of it. And we should all be sensitive to that, and I certainly should have been sensitive to that.”
It was “not exactly the most artful way of asking that question, obviously, based on the reaction. The way that I framed it obviously didn’t work,” she added.
And that was it. That was her “non-apology.”
The original question she’d asked Monday had been this:
“Leaders, let’s say in the Muslim world, talk a lot of violent talk and encourage their supporters to be willing to commit violence, including on their own bodies, in order to win against whoever they decide is the enemy.”
“We in the U.S. media describe that as they are radicalizing those people — particularly when they’re radicalizing young people. That’s how we talk about the way Muslims act. When you see what Donald Trump is doing, is that any different from what we describe as radicalizing people?”

The rest of the discussion Wednesday featured two Muslim guests essentially making excuses for Reid, with one claiming she’s “always given Muslim voices a fair shake” and the other claiming the comparison had been a “fair analogy.”
It’s unclear whether her “non-apology” will be enough to calm the anger from critics like Omar, Tlaib and the Muslim Advocates:

In a statement published Tuesday, the Muslim Advocates, a “national civil rights organization” that advocates on behalf of American Muslims, demanded that Reid “apologize on air tonight for spreading the false, dangerous myth that Muslims are inherently radical and violent.”
Not only did the far-left host not apologize that specific night, but she never apologized at all, instead choosing to deliver a “non-apology” loaded with excuses.
In a statement of her own, Muslim Advocates executive director Farhana Khera highlighted Reid’s history of publishing blog posts brimming with “anti-Muslim bigotry” and “anti-LGBTQ bigotry.”
“To date, Reid still denies writing the posts. … [S]he still hasn’t discussed the harm she caused with her anti-Muslim posts, which spread a false, toxic belief that invites hate and violence against my community,” Khera wrote.
“Tonight, Joy Reid has a chance to make that apology and help undo the hate and potential for violence that she has unleashed. However, she must do more than just apologize for an inartfully worded analogy. Tonight, she must acknowledge that she spread the harmful stereotype that all Muslims are violent — not only on her show on Monday but also multiple times on her old blog. Reid must take a deep look at her own biases.”
She added, “I’ll be watching her show tonight to see how she handles it.”
Judging by The Daily Beast’s reaction, Reid did not handle the controversy well. Perhaps her show, “The Reidout,” should be renamed to “The Copout” …
