Pelosi flat-out says that there should be no debates between Biden, Trump

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said during a press conference Thursday she did not think that Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden should have any debates with President Donald Trump in what seems like an obvious attempt to protect him.

“Don’t tell anybody I told you this. Especially don’t tell Joe Biden. But I don’t think there should be any debates,” Pelosi told reporters.

“I do not think that the president of the United States has comported himself in a way that anybody…has any association with truth, evidence, data and facts,” she stammered.

“I wouldn’t…I wouldn’t legitimize a conversation with him,” she continued, in reference to the president, presumably, “nor a debate, in terms of the presidency of the United States.”

Democrats and their allies in the mainstream media have been dropping the suggestion for weeks that Biden should not debate Trump for a variety of reasons or unless the president meets certain conditions such as releasing his tax records.

Critics of those suggestions counter that Democrats are making the unprecedented recommendation because they fear that Biden’s suspected mental health decline would be laid bare and that he would have no chance to best the feisty president.

Millions of Americans feel the same. In mid-July, a small 54-percent majority felt that Biden was capable of debating Trump, according to a Rasmussen survey.

In March, Biden — fresh from a big Super Tuesday primary day — claimed he could “hardly wait” to debate the president.

“I think the one thing the president doesn’t want to do from the very beginning is face me because I will beat him, period. Period,” Biden claimed.

The Trump campaign has since responded that not only does the president want to debate, but he pushed for more of them — and sooner before Americans begin casting absentee ballots.

The Biden camp, however, has not agreed to more or earlier debates, agreeing only to three beginning Sept. 29 at Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, according to the Commission on Presidential Debates.

That will be followed by the lone vice presidential debate on October 7 at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.

The second and third presidential debates are scheduled for Oct. 15 at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami, and Oct. 22 at Belmont University in Nashville, respectively.

But if Pelosi and other Democrats get their way, none of those presidential dates will happen.

“I know the Biden campaign thinks a different way about this, but I just…I thought what he did in the…2016 was disgraceful, stalking Hillary Clinton like that,” the Speaker said, adding: “I was disappointed the press didn’t say, ‘Go back to your station. You don’t own this stage.’

“So, I think that he’ll probably act in a way that is beneath the dignity of the presidency — he does that every day,” she continued, stammering. “I think he will also belittle what the debates are supposed to be about.”

Pelosi, whose belittling of the president seemed petty at times, likely was responding to Trump’s suggestion that both men be subjected to a drug test prior to each debate, hinting Biden might be taking something to enhance his performance and acuity.

Biden responded to Pelosi’s comments saying that he is planning to debate Trump.

“As long as the commission continues down the straight now as they have, I’m going to debate him,” Biden told MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell according to The Hill.

“I am going to be the fact checker on the stage while I’m debating him,” Biden said.
