Democrats proudly showcased a woman at their convention who used her dead father as a platform to attack President Donald Trump and blame him for his death.
The first night of the Democratic National Convention featured people who slammed the president’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic, including Kristin Urquiza, of San Francisco, Calif., who claimed her father trusted Trump and paid for it with his life when he died of COVID-19 at the age of 65.

Urquiza outrageously declared that the president was responsible for the death of her father, Mark Anthony Urquiza, who died in June. She contended that Trump’s remarks were somehow responsible for her father’s own decision back in May when he ignored the fact that he was in an at-risk category for the coronavirus and visited a karaoke bar when the stay-at-home order was lifted in Arizona.
“He had faith in Donald Trump,” Urquiza said of her father. “He voted for him, listened to him, believed him and his mouthpieces when they said that coronavirus was under control and going to disappear. That it was OK to end social distancing rules before it was safe. That if you had no underlying health conditions, you’d probably be fine.”
Though lockdown orders may have been lifted, older adults had been considered at a higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19, as seen in many of the pandemic’s first victims.
“In late May after the stay-at-home order was lifted in Arizona, my dad went to a karaoke bar with his friends,” Urquiza continued in her convention message.
“A few weeks later he was on a ventilator and after five excruciating days he died alone in the ICU, with a nurse holding his hand. My dad was a healthy 65-year-old. His only preexisting condition was trusting Donald Trump and for that, he paid with his life,” she said.
Urquiza’s obituary for her father penned in July went viral as she blamed everyone for his personal decision to go to a karaoke bar, writing that “his death is due to the carelessness of the politicians who continue to jeopardize the health of brown bodies.”
She claimed the 65-year-old’s death was the result of “a clear lack of leadership, refusal to acknowledge the severity of this crisis, and inability and unwillingness to give clear and decisive direction on how to minimize risk.”
The 39-year-old, who graduated from the Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley, had targeted Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey as well, inviting him to attend her father’s funeral while bashing him for not implementing a mask mandate, writing that the Republican’s “poor policy and terrible leadership was responsible for his death.”
Weeks after the funeral, Urquiza, who reportedly identifies with the progressive left-wing of the Democratic Party, got a letter from presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden expressing his sympathies.
Her appearance on the first night of the Democratic National Convention, along with others accusing the Trump administration of mishandling the pandemic, was part of the Democratic strategy of attack.
“The coronavirus has made clear that there are two Americas: the America that Donald Trump lives in and the America that my father died in,” Urquiza said Monday.
“Enough is enough. Donald Trump may not have caused the coronavirus but his dishonesty and his irresponsible actions made it so much worse. We need a leader who has a national, coordinated data-driven response to stop the pandemic from claiming more lives and to safely reopen the country. We need a leader who will step in on day one and do his job. To care,” she added.
“One of the last things that my father said to me was that he felt betrayed by the likes of Donald Trump and so when I cast my vote for Joe Biden, I will do it for my dad,” she concluded.
Urquiza’s speech, meant to tug at voters’ heart strings, was preceded by remarks from New York Governor Andrew Cuomo who also took aim at Trump, saying his administration “couldn’t fight off the virus. In fact, it didn’t even see it coming.”

Urquiza and others who shared their coronavirus stories in an effort to pin blame on the president for things clearly out of his control earned plenty of backlash on social media where Twitter users expressed their disgust.
They now have someone straight-up personally blaming Trump for their father catching coronavirus and dying. Wow.
