‘Bye Hannity’ trends as misleading smear-video gets flagged by Twitter, but he definitely gets last laugh

For roughly the past 24 or so hours, leftist social media users have been salivating with maniacal glee over the prospect that Fox News host and best-selling author Sean Hannity is about to go bye-bye or something like that.

This almost-hilarious theory popped up all over Twitter this Friday after a left-wing propaganda outfit published a smear video about the long-celebrated host.

Watch the video below, and see if you find it as convincing as leftists do:

Produced by MeidasTouch, a far-left political action committee, the video juxtaposes Hannity’s commentary on Fox News’ “Hannity” with video footage that allegedly disproves his assertions. Except they don’t seem to disprove anything.

For instance, the video begins with Hannity speaking about the left’s “hysteria”and “conspiracy theories.” But to prove that this rhetoric is somehow false, the video then shares yet another conspiracy theory about President Donald Trump.

The video would have you believe that the president has been “ramping up his attacks” on Democrat vice-presidential nominee Sen. Kamala Harris by “encouraging the same birther conspiracy theory he pushed for years against former President Obama.”

That’s a lie. During a White House coronavirus briefing earlier this week, a member of the media asked the president about a theory that Harris is an “anchor baby.”

“There are claims circulating on social media that Kamala Harris is not eligible to be — to run for Vice President because she was an ‘anchor baby,’ I quote. Do you or can you definitively say whether or not Kamala Harris is eligible — legal — and meets the legal requirements to run as Vice President?” the reporter said.

The president replied by saying he doesn’t know if there’s any merit to the theory but rightly pointing out that the theory had emerged because of a Newsweek column written by a “highly qualified, very talented lawyer.”

That’s it. That’s all he said. And as noted below, his remarks were prompted by a question from the media.

Listen for yourself, and take note of left-wing propagandist Aaron Rupar’s hysteria (*Language warning):

Rupar’s disingenuous post went uber viral among the left and produced the exact sort of “hysteria” and “conspiracy theories” that Hannity had spoken of.

Yet to hear MeidasTouch tell it, the Fox News host was just making things up. Speaking of making things up, take a look at the inane #ByeHannity Twitter hashtag that’s gone viral among leftists thanks to the propaganda outfit’s propaganda video:

But where exactly is Hannity going, besides up, up and away like a rocket? After all, his latest book, “Live Free or Die: America (and the World) on the Brink,” has debuted on the very top of The New York Times’ best sellers list in two spots.

And according to the Times, last week the “Fox News programs hosted by [Tucker] Carlson and Sean Hannity drew more live viewers than competing baseball and basketball games, including a Yankees-Nationals matchup on Opening Day.”

Like nearly every campaign pursued by the left, the #ByeHannity one just doesn’t seem to make any sense, especially given as the FNC host didn’t even host “Hannity” Friday evening. Instead, he had former congressman Trey Gowdy fill in for him.

Plus, it’s not like the left’s attempts to make any other Fox News host — be it Tucker Carlson or Judge Jeanine Pirro — go “bye-bye” have ever worked.

And don’t even get Hannity’s supporters started on how right he’s been about the Russia collusion delusion conspiracy theory and hoax.

Hannity eventually responded to the #ByeHannity campaign by gloatingly announcing to his Hannity.com blog that MeidasTouch’s propaganda video has been labeled “Manipulated Media” by Twitter. And unlike the left, he wasn’t an iota wrong.
