A shopper in an Arizona supermarket had a profanity-filled meltdown over people wearing face masks and had to be carried out of the store by his son.
The non-mask wearing man was recorded in a now-viral video that was reportedly taken in a Tucson Sprouts Farmers Market and posted on social media on Monday. The clip that’s been viewed over 6 million times showed the unidentified shopper getting more agitated by the moment as he confronted others in the store.
There was no recording of how the argument began.

‘These people won’t learn! You’re a bunch of idiots wearing masks, you know it’s not real!” he appeared to be yelling at someone off-camera who was near a bakery case. Some comments indicated it was a Sprouts employee.
“Look at you fools. You got a f—ing doily on your face!” he said as two other men tried to diffuse his anger and direct him away from the area.
“Dad,” one of them could be heard saying as he spoke to the irate man.
“Looks like you f—ing got it off your mom’s countertop,” the belligerent man yelled. “I’ll beat that f—ing mask off your face. F—ing p—–s. You’re all a bunch of p——swearing masks.”
The video showed another shopper, wearing a protective face mask, confront the shouting man and tell him to “shut up.”
This only served to make the mask-less man more angry and he lunged at the other person, but was intercepted by the younger man identified as his son, who attempted to step between the two.
“Dad, come on, Dad!” the other two me, who also were not wearing face masks, pleaded with their father as he continued to hurl obscenities.
“Come outside! Come outside and show me how tough you are!” the man yelled. “I’ll beat that f—ing mask off your face.”
His son then stepped in more aggressively, wrapping his arms around the still-shouting man and pushing him backwards toward the store’s entrance. After a few seconds, he literally hoisted him up in his arms and lifted him the rest of the way out the door. The father continued yelling the entire time.
A Sprouts spokesperson confirmed that the incident took place on Saturday at a Tucson location near River and Orange Grove roads, according to AZ Central. More information reportedly could not be provided because of a “pending investigation.”
County ordinances in Pima, where Tucson is located, require the “wearing of face coverings when in public if 6 feet of physical distancing cannot be maintained.”
The mandate by the Pima County Board of Supervisors was issued on July 15 and “applies to everyone over the age of 5.”
“Sprouts offers a number of accommodations for those who may be unable or unwilling to wear a mask or face shield, including personal shopping options for those who are medically exempt, as well as online ordering for curbside pickup and delivery,” a spokesperson for the grocery chain said in a statement.
The viral video prompted thousands of comments on Twitter where many lamented the meltdowns and confrontations over masks in general. Plenty of Twitter users just had fun with the idea that the grown man had to be carried out of the store by his son.
Well, somehow, his sons managed to turn out great…

Someone tweeted a while back that stores should hire out of work bouncers as “greeters.” Pretty good idea.
