Local news outlet’s ‘mail-in voting experiment’ catches Trump’s eye, and yields troubling results

President Trump is calling the world’s attention to a CBS News experiment about a simulated vote-by-mail process that exposed flaws in the system.

In the beta test, CBS This Morning co-host Tony Dokoupil found that three percent of the 100 ballots never arrived at the Philadelphia-area P.O. box that network set up to replicate a local election office.

In a close election, which the November contest is expected to be particularly in swing states, three percent or less could and is likely to be decisive for both the presidency and down-ballot races that could determine which party controls the U.S. Congress.

“The mock ballots used the same size envelope and same class of mail as real ballots, and even had mock votes folded in to approximate the weight. The biggest difference: real mail-in ballots have a logo that is meant to expedite them.” CBS explained.

“Out of the initial batch mailed a week earlier, 97 out of 100 votes had arrived. Three simulated persons, or 3% of voters, were effectively disenfranchised by mail by giving their ballots a week to arrive…Four days after mailing the second batch of mock ballots, 21% of the votes hadn’t arrived.”

Making matters worse, late arrivals could be too overdue to count in the official tally, depending on state rules. In 2016, 73,000 mail-in ballots were tossed because they were untimely, according to CBS.

According to a former Arizona election official, “many states’ mail-in voting policies simply do not take the postal system into account.”

The U.S. Postal Service recommends that complete ballots should be mailed at least one week before the deadline, but “nearly half of all states still allow voters to request ballots less than a week before the election.”

Democrats and their far-left allies are seizing upon the COVID-19 epidemic to push for expanded and automatic — rather than by individual request — mail-in voting in the November 2020 election.

Democrats also aggressively oppose photo ID for in-person voting, regarding it perhaps as worse than waterboarding, even though it’s a standard practice around the world.

Distributing mail-in ballot applications, or ballots themselves, like Halloween candy to everyone, including inactive voters or names on chronically out-of-date voter rolls, without adequate chain-of-custody measures seems like a recipe for chaos, if not rampant fraud. A duplicitous process called ballot harvesting compounds the problem. Vote fraud is the epitome of voter suppression.

The possibility of ballot tampering also exists between point A and point B.

President Trump has been a consistent foe of mail-in-voting as evidenced by his Twitter feed. Thursday morning, for example, he tweeted that “Mail-In Voting is already proving to be a catastrophic disaster. Even testing areas are way off. The Dems talk of foreign influence in voting, but they know that Mail-In Voting is an easy way for foreign countries to enter the race. Even beyond that, there’s no accurate count!”

The blue city of Paterson, N.J. is currently engulfed in a Democrat vs. Democrat election fraud controversy which is probably the tip of the iceberg for mail-in voting around the country.

Meanwhile, some New York primaries for the U.S. House are still undecided as officials still haven’t finished tabulating mail-in ballots.

Dead people allegedly have a habit of voting in Chicago and in other Democrat precincts around the country. In Georgia a few weeks ago, a cat who had been dead for 12 years received a voter registration application in the mail.

Earlier this month in drawing a distinction between mail-in votes and legitimately requested absentee ballots, the president wrote that “Mail-In Ballot fraud found in many elections. People are just now seeing how bad, dishonest and slow it is. Election results could be delayed for months. No more big election night answers? 1% not even counted in 2016. Ridiculous! Just a formula for RIGGING an Election…Absentee Ballots are fine because you have to go through a precise process…”

In May, White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany similarly educated now-ex Fox News anchor Ed Henry, who was seemingly representing the rest of the uninformed media, about the potential for mail-in fraud:

“What the [president is] not for is mass, mail-in voting, what Nancy Pelosi is asking for, which we know is subject to fraud where automatically that state sends to all of its voter rolls a ballot.

“Where in L.A. County you have 112% of the population registered, ask yourself how that happens, and 112% of the population gets a ballot. That leaves 12% subject to fraud. At least 12 percent fraud. So that’s what he’s against. So he’s not against the average everyday American who has a reason for casting their ballot to get an absentee and cast in that manner.”

MAGA fans on Twitter agree with the president and his team.

Blue-check Twitter was very unhappy that the president has provocatively raised the possibility in a tweet of even delaying the election over issues revolving around universal mail-in voting.

Trump lacks the authority to do so, absent very extraordinary circumstances that are difficult if not impossible to contemplate, given the constitutional mandate.
