Dr Fauci floats he’s been missing from TV because he ‘speaks truth’; Trump indicates otherwise

America’s top immunologist, Dr. Anthony Fauci, has been noticeably absent from television. Theories abound as to why this is suddenly the case, but the doc himself suspects that it has to do with his “reputation” of “speaking the truth” regarding the coronavirus.

In speaking to Financial Times, Fauci explained that he hasn’t even seen President Trump since June 2, and when asked why his frequent TV interviews have dried up, he posited a decidedly laughable theory.

“I have a reputation, as you probably have figured out, of speaking the truth at all times and not sugar-coating things,” he suggested. “And that may be one of the reasons why I haven’t been on television very much lately.”

Trump would go on to debate the accuracy of this statement during an interview on “Hannity.” More on that in a bit.

Continuing the discussion on COVID-19 and the severity of the virus, Fauci declared that this pandemic is “the big one,” ostensibly fearmongering by claiming a “perfect storm” of past outbreak elements combined to create what we are seeing today.

“You have a random virus jump species from an animal to a human that is spectacularly efficient in spreading from human to human, and has a high degree, relatively speaking, of morbidity and mortality,” he explained.

As has often happened in the past, Fauci contradicted President Trump’s claims that the overwhelming majority of coronavirus cases are “harmless” based on the “40 million tests” that had been conducted thus far.

“I’m trying to figure out where the president got that number,” Fauci admitted. “What I think happened is that someone told him that the general mortality is about 1 percent. And he interpreted, therefore, that 99 percent is not a problem, when that’s obviously not the case.”

He went on to explain that COVID-19 has a “broad range of manifestations” and that the symptoms of the virus themselves can be harmful and result in hospitalization, even if it doesn’t result in a fatality.

“I have never seen a virus or any pathogen that has such a broad range of manifestations. Even if it doesn’t kill you, even if it doesn’t put you in the hospital, it can make you seriously ill.”

But Dr. Fauci isn’t the only one with a bone to pick. President Trump discussed Fauci’s many errors during a Thursday night interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, saying: “A lot of them said don’t wear a mask, don’t wear a mask. Now they are saying wear a mask. A lot of mistakes were made, a lot of mistakes.”

To clear up some of the now-routine media hysteria surrounding the uptick in coronavirus cases, Trump went on to explain the obvious: More testing means more cases.

“Let me just make one statement, we do testing like nobody’s ever done testing. And when we test, the more you test, the more cases you find. Other countries, you know when they test? And I asked them all, they test when somebody’s not feeling well or when somebody walks into a hospital, so they don’t have tests. They have tests that are very limited. We have a massive 45, 45 million people have been tested. The record, and our tests are the best.”

This public criticism comes amid CDC Director Robert Redfield claiming that the “public health risk” of keeping schools closed is “greater” than the risk of reopening in the fall; a message which blatantly defies the media narrative.
