Dad of murdered 8-yr-old cries, ‘Black Lives Matter? You killing your own’; Atlanta mayor says ‘enough’

Be it in Chicago, New York City or Atlanta, violent crime is surging in Democrat-run cities where local officials, who are effectively being held hostage by the radical left, have gone on the offensive against law enforcement.

But then, this was the predictable outcome of emasculating police officers, as was the reaction from these same officials when faced with the carnage they helped create.

A rash of shootings took place in Atlanta over the Fourth of July holiday weekend, to include an 8-year-old girl shot and killed, prompting Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms to call on citizens to stop “shooting each other up on our streets.”

“Enough is enough. We have talked about this movement that’s happening across America and this moment in time when we have the ears and the interests of people across this country and across this globe who are saying they want to see change,” the Democrat said at a Sunday night press conference, according to Fox News. “But the difference in this moment in time with the civil rights movement — the civil rights movement, there was a defined, common enemy. We’re fighting the enemy within when we are shooting each other up on our streets.”

“You shot and killed a baby,” Bottoms continued. “And there wasn’t just one shooter; there were at least two shooters. An eight-year-old baby. If you want people to take us seriously, and you don’t want us to lose this movement, then we can’t lose each other.”

The girl was killed on the Fourth of July near the site of the Wendy’s restaurant where a black man was shot and killed when, in the course of fighting with police, he gained control of an officer’s taser and tried to use it against him.

After that incident, Mayor Bottoms issued a series of executive orders “dramatically” tightening rules of engagement by police, as characterized by the New York Times.

The incident involving the young girl was one of many in Atlanta over the weekend. In one incident alone, 14 people were shot.

Fox 5 Atlanta reporter Janice Yu detailed the shootings from Saturday night:

In effect, Bottoms admitted that despite weeks of protesting and rioting, and calls by Democrats to defund and even dismantle police departments, the problem is not law enforcement.

“It has to stop,” she said. “You can’t blame this on police officers. It’s about people who shot a baby in a car. We’re doing each other more harm than any officer on this force.”

Of course, shooting babies is commonplace in Chicago, where 3-year-old children have been killed by gun violence on more than one occasion.

Speaking of the Windy City, 63 people were shot over the weekend, with 17 killed. In New York City, where Mayor Bill de Blasio plans to cut over $1 billion from the NYPD budget, 44 were injured and at least six killed.

The distraught father of the 8-year-old called out the Black Lives Matter movement in commenting on the loss of his daughter.

“They say Black Lives Matter. You killed your own,” Secoriya Williamson said, barely able to contain his grief. “They killed my baby because she crossed a barrier and made a U-turn? You killed a child. She didn’t do nothing to nobody. Black Lives Matter? You killing your own. You killed an eight-year-old child. She ain’t did nothing to no one of y’all. She just wanted to get home to see her cousin. That’s all she wanted to do.”

Secoriea Turner was shot when at least two people in a crowd opened fire on a car she was riding in with her mother, Fox News reported. Authorities said the mother tried to drive through illegally placed barricades set up in the area when the car came under fire.

Conservative Matt Walsh took to Twitter to note that in all of last year, nine unarmed black people were shot by police, while 25 people were shot in Atlanta in one day.

“BLM says the first thing is a crisis worthy of rioting but the second is not,” he added.

In addition to a black mayor, the interim police chief in Atlanta is also black, as is the Fulton County district attorney.

Adding to the insanity of it all, the same night people were being gunned down in the city, protesters were attacking the Georgia Highway Patrol headquarters in Atlanta.

The facility was hit with fireworks and rocks, and a small fire reportedly broke out in an office.

The Georgia State Patrol said in a report early Sunday that there have been no arrests in connection with the incident, according to 11 Alive News.
