Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser appeared on Fox News this Sunday to talk about the ongoing “protests” in her city, and right off the bat, she was spouting lies.

“Let me say this, Chris: All week we’ve had peaceful protests in Washington,” were the first words uttered by her to Chris Wallace, the host of FNC’s “Fox News Sunday.”
She should try telling that to local shop owner Roy Rodman. On the night of Sunday, May 31, her so-called “peaceful” protesters threw a chair through Rodman’s shop and then proceeded to rob it of goods.
Below are more examples of her “peaceful protesters” being “peaceful”:

“Yesterday we saw our largest crowds that met at various places throughout the district and converged on 16th street at Black Lives Matter Plaza,” Bowser continued.
“And what we heard was people exercising their First Amendment right and demanding justice in a more fair system. And we, as I understand it, had no arrests last night.”
The protests that occurred throughout Washington, D.C., Saturday were indeed genuinely peaceful, but presumably because the National Guard had been deployed by President Donald Trump to keep order and prevent further destruction.
However, the National Guard were able to do their jobs so effectively no thanks to the Washington, D.C. mayor, though she didn’t seem willing to admit as much. In fact, she went on to attack the president for “invading” D.C.
She issued the attack after Wallace questioned her about the following nasty tweets she’d written in defense of her beloved “peaceful protesters“:
My police department will always protect DC and all who are in it whether I agree with them (such as those exercising their First Amendment Right) or those I don’t (namely, @realdonaldtrump)…
— Muriel Bowser (@MurielBowser) May 30, 2020
While he hides behind his fence afraid/alone, I stand w/ people peacefully exercising their First Amendment Right after the murder of #GeorgeFloyd & hundreds of years of institutional racism
There are no vicious dogs & ominous weapons. There is just a scared man. Afraid/alone…

“What we saw last week was basically an invasion of our city,” she complained to Wallace. “Active-duty Army troops moved from all points around the country to threaten our autonomy.”
“And what you saw, and I won’t have it reduced to a spat, was how I have to defend our taxpayers — and it’s sad to say that we would have to defend ourselves against federal forces.”
While the president did airlift approximately 1,600 active-duty soldiers to the area, not a single soldier ever entered D.C. They were brought to the area only as a backup in case it became necessary to invoke the Insurrection Act of 1807.
The FNC discussion then pivoted to Bowser’s widely panned decision to rename a city plaza to Black Lives Matter Plaza and then paint a giant Black Lives Matter sign on a street that leads directly to the White House.
Wallace was confused by the stunt.
“Well, it’s a mural, Chris,” Bowser tried to explain. “We have a program called Murals D.C., where we turn all types of expression into beautiful art around our city. And what we have commissioned was the Black Lives Matter mural, and it’s become a centering point, a place for healing, strategizing, talking, but also redress.”
Wallace wasn’t convinced and was quick to note that even BLM activists have complained about the “performative” mural, as seen below:
This is a performative distraction from real policy changes. Bowser has consistently been on the wrong side of BLMDC history. This is to appease white liberals while ignoring our demands. Black Lives Matter means defund the police. @emilymbadger say it with us https://t.co/w0ekwSG1ip

“Black Lives Matter D.C. [has] said that your mural that you commissioned or approved was a distraction from real policy issues and they’re calling you out saying that you are increasing funding for policing at the same time that you are cutting funding in D.C. for community intervention programs,” Wallace noted.
This is true, though against Bowser had excuses.
“We have invested not a penny more and certainly not a penny less then what we need for safe neighborhoods in our communities,” she claimed. “The same budget proposal that I have in front of my council … increases more than three percent in funding for our D.C. public schools.”
“What we also see is an innovative policing program where we hire D.C. residents, send them to college while they’re working for the metropolitan police department. … It’ll help us create a partnership between police and community.”
While those policies might make sense to regular people, the type of people whom she’s sought to cater to are radicals who want to defund/dismantle the police …
The FNC discussion concluded with Wallace addressing confirmed reports that she’d effectively kicked hundreds of Utah National Guardsmen out of a downtown D.C. hotel. And like before, Bowser started lying again.
These brave men and women have risked their lives protecting DC for three days. Rioting, looting, arson, and vandalism have all disappeared bc these soldiers served. And now they are being kicked to the curb by an ungrateful mayor. This must be stopped. 2/2 pic.twitter.com/YYyctKvUqN

“I have no ability to evict anybody from a private hotel,” she said. “And certainly I think the people of Utah should know this, that their governor and their senators and the United States Army were responsible for making the accommodations of the Utah National Guard and certainly paying the bills.”
“We did insist that D.C. residents don’t pay the bill for troops that we didn’t request, but we are certainly happy that the guardsmen were comfortable in downtown hotels and I understand that the army is worked out all payment arrangements, so I’m not sure that anybody left anywhere.”
Long story short, she did effectively boot the Guardsman by suddenly deciding at the last minute that she wouldn’t pay for their stay, thus forcing them to seek accommodations elsewhere.
Meanwhile, thanks to the Guardsman’s grossly unappreciated work in her city, Washington, D.C. doesn’t look like a hot, burned-up mess.
