As revenues tanked, Hillary’s longtime aides’ pay packages nearly doubled from her ‘non-profit’

Officials at a political nonprofit formed by failed 2016 Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton after her election loss to President Donald Trump have reportedly been pocketing big raises even in the face of declining contributions.

Onward Together, a non-profit dedicated to “encouraging [Democrats] to organize, get involved, and run for office” and to advancing far-left “progressive values” by funneling contributions to other left-wing groups, raised $2.258 million from April 1, 2018, to March 31, 2019.

The $2.568 million marked a drop of nearly $1 million from the $3.158 million it drew during its first year in operation. Its total revenue meanwhile dropped from $6.23 million to $4.21 million, according to the Washington Free Beacon.

In the real world, such drops would be accompanied by possible pay cuts. But in the world of Clinton and her elite friends, they were accompanied by pay raises instead.

The group’s most recently filed tax documents prove it.

“As the group’s revenues plummeted, Clinton’s confidantes nearly doubled their compensation packages,” the Beacon reported Wednesday.

“Dennis Cheng, the group’s finance director and former chief development officer of the Clinton Foundation, was paid $126,172 during Onward Together’s 2018 fiscal year—$66,172 more than what he collected throughout 2017.”

That’s a pay raise of 110 percent …

“Kelly Mehlenbacher, the group’s chief operating officer who later joined Sen. Kamala Harris’s (D., Calif.) and Michael Bloomberg’s presidential campaigns, took in just over $101,355 — a $66,355 increase over her 2017 compensation,” the Beacon’s report continued.

Longtime Clinton aide Huma Abedin, an officer at the group, was paid $87,081—a $42,000 increase over her prior year’s compensation.”

That’s the same Huma Abedin who worked with Clinton at the State Department and once accidentally left classified documents sitting in the front seat of a car in India.

It’s also the same Abedin who forwarded sensitive State Department emails to her personal Yahoo email account prior to Yahoo being hacked in 2013.

Onward Together’s tax filings further show that, despite rewarding themselves with exorbitant raises, neither Cheng, Mehlenbacher nor Abedin ever spent more than 30 clocked-in hours performing work for the non-profit. In fact, the latter two averaged only 20 hours per week, i.e., 24 fewer hours worked per week than the average American.

What’s notable is that, according to the Beacon, even as Onward Together’s incoming contributions declined, the contributions being earned by “other progressive organizations headed by less recognizable figures” grew.

This suggests that faith in Clinton’s bona fides has declined, which fits given that a growing number of  “progressive” voices want her to take a hike, including left-wing comedian Bill Maher.

“It seems like every few months Hillary Clinton bubbles up again. … The Clintons, they gotta go away,” Maher said last October on his weekly HBO program.

“I’m saying this now a year out. They can’t be at the convention. … I’m serious. She is one of the biggest vote-getters. Justin Amash said, ‘The thing we know for sure is that Hillary Clinton is a Donald Trump asset.’ She is. And Bill is damaged goods. I just think they got to go away.”

All of this isn’t to say Onward Together hasn’t been at least somewhat successful with its mission.

“Onward Together sent over $2 million in grants to dozens of liberal entities including EMILY’s List, Stacey Abrams’s Fair Fight Action, Color of Change, and the State Engagement Fund, a dark money group with ties to the Democracy Alliance, a millionaire and billionaire donor club cofounded by George Soros,” the Beacon reported.

“It spent $709,000 on political campaign activities, which went towards polling for an unnamed gubernatorial race.”

The group also tried hawking tickets to Clinton’s book tour last year.

“In an email to supporters, the 2008 and 2016 Democratic presidential candidate said, ‘I’d like to hear what you’re thinking,’” the Washington Examiner reported at the time.

“While she isn’t talking about running for president for a third time, Clinton said that she has been talking to people about key issues, including immigration reform and electing Democrats ‘at all levels’ in 2020.”

The email was reportedly sent from the email account of Onward Together.

“I’ve been traveling and talking with folks around the world about their plans for the rest of the year,” the email read. “Some members of this team are doubling down on issues from voting rights to immigration reform, while others are focused on electing Democrats at all levels in 2019 and 2020.”

“Like you, they’re all thinking about how we can best work toward making our country a place where the values we share are front and center — in our policy and in the way we treat each other.”

It’s not clear how the tour ultimately fared, though Clinton’s past tours were definitely all major flops.

According to the Beacon, Onward Together also has its own “affiliated political action committee” run by “Charles Baker, the president and cofounder of the Dewey Square Group, who was the chief administrative officer of Hillary for America.”

“Like the nonprofit, the PAC has struggled to raise cash,” the Beacon reported. “The Onward Together Committee reported just $146,351 in total receipts so far for the 2020 election cycle. The PAC handed out just $15,000 to other committees.”

“South Carolina Democratic Senate candidate Jaime Harrison—who received $5,000 from the PAC—is the only politician seeking federal office who has been given money from Clinton.”
