After nearly two months of a total lockdown, the frustrations of the American people are beginning to boil over.

Protests are breaking out almost daily urging officials to reopen the economy and let people get back to work earning paychecks, even as some authorities actually extend restrictions brought on by a virus that appears to have originated in Wuhan, China.

Caught in the middle of all this are police officers.

With images of hair stylists and tattoo artists being led away in handcuffs for a crime of opening the doors for business to pay the rent and feed their children, a viral video captured the frustration from all sides.

The double-edged video reminds us that freedom can sometimes be messy as a man dresses down what appears to be a Laguna Beach, Calif., police officer for asking him for his identification.

**Warning Strong Language**

There are a lot of facts missing, such as why police are in a residential neighborhood, what role, if any, the man recording the video played in that, and any interaction that may have occurred before the video begins — the cop is heard saying his body camera had been recording.

The fact that the man told the officer he felt “intimidated by you and your weaponry,” and his profane language, does detract from his message somewhat.

That message being one of freedom.

With civil liberties having disappeared almost as quick as toilet paper, the push back seen in this country has been refreshing in some ways, serving as a reminder that the indelible American spirit, steeped in revolution and defiance, is alive and well.

This take away perhaps being the only positive to come from COVID-19.

The man in the video gave “Officer Peck” his name, informing the cop that he did so of his own free will, not because he was forced to.

“I have no history, I stand for truth. I am an American, and I will not have my rights infringed, by you or anybody else,” the man furiously declared.

He then reiterates that the officer suggested he had violated some rule — we can only assume that this has to do with social distancing requirements.

Its clear the two have had previous interaction, as the man reminds the cop that he’d previously said local officials “take one f*cking inch, and they go for the f*cking mile.”

His message to this point has validity, but he begins to let his anger get the better of him, calling Officer Peck “a dick.”

The cop, who was making his way back to his patrol vehicle, remains calm and asked what he had done wrong.

“You should never, ever stand for someone who stands for the f*cking flag and backs you up in the color of blue,” the man replied — it’s clear that he meant cops should not go against those who support them.

He goes on to rant against the “fraud being perpetrating against the country,” saying COVID-19 statistics being reported are not accurate.

When cautioned that an officer in his car was trying to leave, the man likely lost some who stood with him until this moment. Lashing out, he called the officers “a bunch of dumb asses,” and told Peck to “get the f*ck out of here! How about that?”

He then tells the officer he will be in San Diego later in the day to stand for the rights of all Americans, to include the officer’s rights.

Urged to calm down, he responded, “I don’t have anything to calm down about. I will speak the way I f*cking want to, how about that? And that, my friend, is called f*cking freedom!”
