A mask-wearing conservative pundit who was practicing social distancing was nevertheless stopped by a security guard while shopping at a grocery store in the notoriously left-wing Los Angeles metropolitan area this Thursday.

According to tweets by Elisha Krauss of The Daily Wire, after stopping her the guard proceeded to harangue her, a citizen of the United States of America, over her pro-life t-shirt, telling her to “not wear such a controversial shirt.”

“Women’s Rights Begin In The Womb,” the shirt read.

After Krauss’s disturbing altercation, the pro-life organization Live Action reached out to the grocery store, Gelson’s Markets, for comment. In response, the store issued a statement apologizing for the incident and revealing that the guard in question had been reassigned elsewhere.

“We would like to sincerely apologize to Ms. Krauss for the completely inappropriate comment made to her by the third-party security guard at the Sherman Oaks location,” the store reportedly said.

“The guard in question was immediately replaced and the guard company was contacted to ensure that the guard in question is never assigned to work at any Gelson’s locations ever again. Gelson’s hires guards to guarantee the safety of its customers and to ensure that COVID19 rules and restrictions such as the wearing of masks and social distancing are adhered to.”

As a compassionate, forgiving conservative, Krauss chose afterward to thank the store for its commitment to “protecting free speech” and expressed happiness that, despite the guard’s abhorrent behavior, he still remains gainfully employed.

Some aspects of this eye-opening incident speak strongly to the values that define conservatism: respect for the sanctity of life, compassion toward other people and the willingness to forgive transgressions.

Conversely, some aspects seem to epitomize the values that define liberalism: namely, disrespect and disdain for the sanctity of life and the constitutionality guaranteed right to free speech.

The left’s disdain for the right to free speech has become monumentally clear in recent days, as the left has reflexively lashed out at those Americans who’ve chosen to use this right to express their displeasure as their communities’ ongoing coronavirus lockdowns.

Over in San Diego, a woman was charged with a misdemeanor this week for simply promoting someone else’s lockdown protest and is slated to be arrested sometime soon for organizing her own lockdown protest this weekend.

Over in North Carolina, something similar happened last week.

“More than 100 protesters rallied in downtown Raleigh to reopen North Carolina on Tuesday, describing Gov. Roy Cooper’s stay-home order as an unconstitutional overreach that will kill the state’s small businesses,” The News & Observer reported.

“At least one protester, Monica Faith Ussery, 51, of Holly Springs, was charged with violating the executive order. ‘I have a right to peacefully assemble,’ she said as officers led her away, her hands bound with a zip tie. ‘God bless America.'”

During this same protest, the Raleigh Police Department posted disturbing tweets claiming “protesting is a non-essential activity.”

Meanwhile, members of the left-wing establishment press have tried to disingenuously portray these nationwide protests as some sinister conspiracy, as noted by conservative D.C. communications strategist Drew Holden.

Holden’s findings suggest that it isn’t so much that the left has disdain for the First Amendment itself but rather that it has disdain for free speech when it’s used specifically by conservatives.
