Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, says we might never return to “normal” after the COVID-19 outbreak.
Fauci made the ominous projection in response to this question at the White House coronavirus briefing: “Dr. Fauci, you said you wanted to get back to normal as soon as possible. Will we truly get back to normal in this country before there is an actual vaccine that’s available to everybody? How do you start lifting the restrictions?”
Dr. Fauci replied: “If ‘back to normal’ means acting like there was never a coronavirus problem, I don’t think that’s going to happen until we have a situation where you can completely protect the population.”
He continued: “When we say getting back to normal, we mean something very different from what we are going through right now. Because right now, we are in a very intense mitigation. When we get back to normal, we will go back gradually to the point where we can function as a society.”

Dr. Fauci, 79, has worked for the federal government since 1968. He has been the director of National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984.
Fauci said there may never be a return to pre-coronavirus “normal,” so life as we knew it is effectively over.
“If you want to get to pre-coronavirus, that might not ever happen in the sense that the threat is there,” Fauci said. “But I believe with the therapies that will be coming — and the fact that I feel confident that over a period of time we will get a good vaccine — that we will never get to back to where we are now. So if that means getting back to ‘normal,’ then we will get back to normal.”

Fauci has been criticized for his derisive dismissal of hydroxychloroquine, the anti-malaria drug that many physicians say is a potentially life-saving treatment against the Wuhan coronavirus.
Numerous scientists and anecdotal success stories tout the anti-malaria drug’s efficacy against COVID-19.

Fauci’s abject opposition to hydroxychloroquine has spawned numerous conspiracy theories, especially given his past “love letters” to Hillary Clinton.
Over the years, Anthony Fauci was very friendly with two-time failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
In a fawning June 2012 email, Fauci gushed: “”Wow. Very rarely does a speech bring me to tears, but this one did it. This was a bases-loaded home run. Please tell the Secretary [Hillary Clinton] that I love her more than ever.”
In a January 2013 email where he affectionately referred to himself as “your doctor admirer,” Dr. Fauci again professed his love for Hillary.
