Despite China’s litany of known human rights violations, not to mention its complicity in the ongoing global coronavirus pandemic, the globalist U.N. Human Rights Council has granted it a seat on one of its panels.
“Jiang Duan, a minister at China’s mission to the U.N., was selected to serve on the U.N. Human Rights Council’s Consultative Group, a five-nation body that plays a key role in selecting human rights investigators who will oversee abuses across the globe,” the Washington Free Beacon reported Friday.
“With a spot on the committee, China will be in a prime position to thwart investigations into its own human rights abuses.”
The news spurred fierce denunciations from critics, including those at the the U.N. Watch, a Geneva-based non-governmental organization that conducts oversight of the HRC.
No joke: #China joins U.N. Human Rights Council panel, where it will help select the U.N.’s next world monitors on freedom of speech, enforced disappearances & arbitrary detention—and on health. That’s like making a pyromaniac into the town fire chief. https://t.co/DqFY90rd6I

“Allowing China’s oppressive and inhumane regime to choose the world investigators on freedom of speech, arbitrary detention and enforced disappearances is like making a pyromaniac into the town fire chief,” U.N. Watch executive director Hillel Neuer said in a statement.
“It’s absurd and immoral for the UN to allow China’s oppressive government a key role in selecting officials who shape international human rights standards and report on violations worldwide.”
His perspective is shared by many, and that’s not an exaggeration:
Maybe the @UN should’ve checked with the Uighur’s in prison camps for a reference.https://t.co/YRKbhwx4cb

The #UN appoints #China to its human rights group.
Never mind China’s constant violations of human rights. https://t.co/ABy7AK4cAb

China was given a seat on the UN Human Rights Council.
Are you kidding?
– They hold a portion of their population in concentration camps.
– They lied to the world about the Coronavirus.
– They’ve taken away basic rights from their people.
The UN is a joke.

China just won a seat on the UN Human Rights Council.
China is currently holding members of their populations in concentration camps.
Let’s also not forget about what just went on in Hong Kong.
The United Nations has lost whatever shred of credibility they had left.

BREAKING:
China has just been given a seat on the UN Human Rights Council
China lied about this Virus outbreak, infecting the world
They lock Muslims in Concentration Camps
Why would they be anywhere near a committee focused on “Human Rights?”
This is an outrage.

Human Rights and China?
Is this a joke?

#UN voting itself into irrelevance and oblivion. Until it puts China in docket for human rights outrages, UN will continue to mock core values upon which it was founded. https://t.co/xtRcJSL1dE

The hypocrisy called UN: A communist dictatorship dictating the world about free speech, arbitrary detention and even health, after Wuhan Virus.

But for some inexplicable reason, complaints about the decision all seem to originate from the right. Figures on the left, meanwhile, have been eerily quiet, perhaps because they’ve been too busy continuing to disseminate the Communist Party of China’s propaganda.
Continuing his statement, Neuer of U.N. Watch said it’s “absurd for the UN to allow the Chinese regime” on a panel given its detention/elimination of human rights defenders and its enslavement of religious minorities.
“[A]t a time when China has forcibly disappeared citizens who express dissent like the executive Ren Zhiqiang, who called Xi a ‘clown’ over coronavirus response — as well as upwards of a 1 million Muslim Uyghur and minority group members — it is inconceivable that China would be allowed to influence the selection of the next member of the UN Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances,” he said.
“And how can China be involved in choosing the UN Special Rapporteur on the protection of freedom of opinion and expression, when the regime routinely imposes draconian censorship, and seeks to shut down dissenting voices?”
After Ren Zhiqiang, a well-known blogger, penned a piece blasting Chinese President Xi Jinping’s coronavirus response last month, he disappeared — literally — and hasn’t been seen since.

Meanwhile, the coronavirus — which originated in China but was purposefully covered up and downplayed by the Asian nation’s communist government — has ravaged the entire globe, shutting down entire economies and killing over 50,000 people and counting.
“Finally, as the world is suffering from the deadly coronavirus pandemic that spread like wildfire in Wuhan while China silenced doctors, journalists and other citizens who tried to sound the alarm, by what logic can the Beijing regime be involved in choosing the UN’s next global monitor on the right to health?” Neuer concluded.
“This is absurd, and China’s appointment threatens to undermine the credibility of the UN’s highest human rights body—which already counts Venezuela, Pakistan, Eritrea and Qatar among its elected members—and is liable to cast a shadow upon the United Nations as a whole.”
Of course, some would argue the U.N. body has no credibility — and never did.
