Rep. Adam Schiff is ready to give America just what it doesn’t need in the middle of a global pandemic.
The California Democrat is at it again, announcing Tuesday that his part in combating the coronavirus crisis will be to introduce legislation that will investigate how President Trump and his administration have handled the emergency.
Schiff told MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell that Trump delayed taking the virus seriously and it has had “catastrophic consequences.”
The House Intelligence Committee chairman is drafting a bill to create a 9/11-style commission to look at the supposedly slow response of the Trump administration at the outset of the outbreak which has already claimed the lives of 5,000 Americans.
“After Pearl Harbor and 9/11, we looked at what went wrong to learn from our mistakes,” he said in a tweet on Wednesday. “Once we’ve recovered, we need a nonpartisan commission to review our response and how we can better prepare for the next pandemic.”

I’m working on a bill to do that.https://t.co/uqO3BwVldN

Schiff dismissed Trump’s contention that the Democrats’ focus on his impeachment distracted from the oncoming pandemic, telling O’Donnell that it is “an interesting acknowledgment that the administration has screwed up this response.”
He also criticized the president for holding campaign rallies, golfing and taking “vacations” during the impeachment trial.
The Democratic-controlled House of Representatives voted to impeach the president at the end of December and the Senate voted to acquit him on Feb. 5. The first travel-related case of coronavirus in the U.S. was reported in Washington state on Jan. 21 after it had originated in Wuhan at the end of last year.
“I don’t think I would have done any better if I had not been impeached,” Trump told reporters Tuesday during a White House briefing. “I don’t think I would have acted any differently, or I don’t think I would have acted any faster.”
“Did it divert my attention? I think I’m getting A-pluses for the way I handled myself during a phony impeachment,” he added. “But certainly I guess I thought of it.”
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell blamed Democrats for diverting attention from what was coming.
“It came up while we were tied down in the impeachment trial. And I think it diverted the attention of the government because everything every day was all about impeachment,” the Kentucky Republican told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt on Tuesday.
There were no more details given by Schiff on when he expects the legislation to be ready but the groundwork of the Democrats’ narrative is already being laid.
We lost precious weeks in responding to the coronavirus pandemic. But it’s not too late for us to make the right decisions to slow the spread.
A nationwide stay-at-home order. Increasing testing capacity. Investing in vaccine research and development.
What we do now matters. https://t.co/Av2dvgB3G3

The California lawmaker naturally ignored that, in his position as House Intelligence chair, he would have known about the growing threat of the virus early on.
Certainly a non-partisan commission will ask what Rep. Schiff was doing on this issue in January/February as chair of House Intelligence Committee and member of Gang of Eight. https://t.co/q5Jv1X09SE

Before Schiff’s announcement, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was already accusing Trump of ‘fiddling while people are dying’ on the coronavirus crisis.

Schiff and his fellow Democrats were slammed for their obvious motivations in taking the nation down another anti-Trump impeachment trail months before the presidential election, and in the midst of a global pandemic that has brought America to a near standstill.
Adam Schiff released the phone records of the President’s personal attorney, a journalist, and a sitting Member of Congress.
Now he wants to create a commission to attack the Trump Administration’s #COVIDー19 response?
Give me a break. https://t.co/AD9hEjHqPe

Let me get this straight:
Congress just passed a bill giving $25 million for “Salaries and Expenses” to the House
They aren’t going back to work until April 20th
And the first thing Adam Schiff wants to work on is ANOTHER committee to investigate Trump?

The greatest miscalculation by Democrats here is that they have made Trump a “wartime” president, and Americans rally round the flag during wartime.
THAT’S why they are starting the Schiff Investigations. They want to strip Trump of his hero status in the media.

.@RepAdamSchiff is the House Intel chair. He’s supposed to know what threats face the country. But He chased #impeachment while @realDonaldTrump was trying to stop #coronavirus. No wonder Schiff is writing the bill on a “commission.” He needs to protect himself from investigation https://t.co/CLSEQzUURR

BREAKING: Schiff drafting legislation to set up 9/11-style commission to review coronavirus response
While Trump is keeping us safe, they are focusing all their energy on “Taking down the Orange Man”
These people do NOT care about America’s safety!

This has to be a April fools prank right?
