Donald Trump Jr’s ‘must-read thread’ – we’re all waiting for apologies

Donald Trump Jr. touted a “Must read thread” on social media that slammed the liberal media for “regurgitating” the narrative being pushed by the Chinese Communist Party about coronavirus.

The president’s son shared a link to a Twitter thread from a communications strategist and author who is demanding an apology from the press for pushing Chinese propaganda.

Drew Holden fired one shot after another at the liberal media for trusting in and reporting on the Chinese government’s release of information and data on its handling of the COVID-19 outbreak as well as the number of confirmed cases and deaths in the country.

Holden kicked off his series of tweets saying he was “looking forward to the correction and apology” from The New York Times on its reporting that cases in China were “dwindling” and the Communist country was now doing its humanitarian part to help the rest of the world infected with the virus that originated in one of its own cities.

Holden issued the same challenges to the Guardian and ABC News.

“Certainly an esteemed outlet like @Reuters would say something about this?” he asked in another tweet.

He went on to point a finger at Time and Atlantic Council before calling out the “moral lightweights” at The Intercept.

Taking aim at NBC News after Al Jazeera, Holden wrote that they “might get a Pulitzer for trusted American media outlet pushing Chinese propaganda.”

He also slammed NPR and reminded readers that “your tax dollars are funding the outlet.”

Holden’s criticism of the liberal media came amid many more rebukes for the way the media carries water for China and appears to unquestioningly report the coronavirus numbers released by the Communist Party of China.

Journalists and news show hosts on both liberal cable and broadcast networks repeatedly declared that the United States had surpassed the number of cases reported in China and Italy.

Sen. Marco Rubio slammed the media for their “glee & delight” in those reports, questioning whether the data being released by the Chinese government could even be trusted.

“Some in our media can’t contain their glee & delight in reporting that the U.S. has more #CoronaVirus cases than #China,” Rubio tweeted on Sunday. “Beyond being grotesque, it’s bad journalism.”

The Florida Republican suggested that the number of coronavirus cases in China was likely to be “significantly more than what they admit to.”

The criticisms came amid a new report indicating that residents of Wuhan are estimating the number of deaths is much higher than what China has been reporting.

Cremation workers from across the country were brought in to help Wuhan and work around the clock to handle the dead. While the government figures put the total death count at much lower levels, locals claim 42,000 people may have been killed by the virus in the city.

Residents there have been reporting that seven funeral homes serving the city have given 500 urns daily to grieving families, which would add up to 3,500 remains distributed every 24 hours.

According to figures from Johns Hopkins, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in China has steadied at just over 82,000 and over 3,300 have died. Hubei Province, where Wuhan is located, has reportedly seen 3,186 of those deaths.
