Senator Rand Paul, R-Ky., announced on Twitter that he has tested positive for COVID-19.
Early Sunday afternoon, the Senator’s account tweeted that he is currently in quarantine and is “feeling fine,” despite having contracted the coronavirus that has swept the globe.
“Senator Rand Paul has tested positive for COVID-19. He is feeling fine and is in quarantine,” the tweet notes. “He is asymptomatic and was tested out of an abundance of caution due to his extensive travel and events. He was not aware of any direct contact with any infected person.”
A follow-up laid out a tentative timeline for Paul returning to the Senate, and assured those following the Senator that staff had begun working remotely over a week ago, and therefore few people had come in contact with him.
He expects to be back in the Senate after his quarantine period ends and will continue to work for the people of Kentucky at this difficult time. Ten days ago, our D.C. office began operating remotely, hence virtually no staff has had contact with Senator Rand Paul.

It didn’t take long for liberals to begin celebrating the news. Many voiced their malicious glee due to the fact that Paul had voted against the pork-laden coronavirus relief package that had been passed by Democrats in the House of Representatives.

The shocking news comes just two days after The Hill published an op-ed from Paul regarding his “prescription for combating the coronavirus crisis” in which he called for “aggressive but prudent actions” and avoiding the typical political reaction to relief legislation, which is to cram it full of funding for pet projects and special interests.
“Right now, every special interest in Washington is fighting to lard up the response with their pet projects, from tax breaks to pet social issues. This is wrong, and we must avoid this temptation.
There are also those advocating for $1-2 TRILLION in new spending in the next few months. We simply cannot sustain that as an economy. We must look to be more precise with our actions.”
He also made it clear that he was on the same side as everyone else in fighting for mask and respirator legislation as well as economic help for those who are facing hardship as the result of government measures. He laid out his plan in precise and concise language.
“First and foremost, we must enact a payroll tax holiday. The FICA tax is the largest tax most Americans pay. It is about 15 percent, split between employer and workers. I want to put a stop to that tax temporarily for BOTH business owners and workers to help both during this time of struggle. That’s a huge boost to everyone’s paycheck and to our overall economy. It would let people keep over $200 billion of their OWN money over the next two months. It would start immediately.”
Judging by the mirthful reactions above, many either didn’t read his plan or simply don’t care about his life.
