Given that rebellion is in our DNA, California’s Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom may have his hands full after ordering residents of the state to “stay at home” in response to the coronavirus outbreak.
With civil liberties in America disappearing faster than toilet paper in what has been declared a national emergency, defiant Americans not accustomed to being told what they can and cannot do will surely test the decree issued by Newsom, who declared, “Home isolation is not my preferred choice … but it is a necessary one.”
“We need to bend the curve in the state of California,” the governor said Thursday at a press conference, according to CNBC.
“This is not a permanent state, this is a moment in time,” Newsom said. “We will look back at these decisions as pivotal.”
CA is issuing a statewide, mandatory STAY AT HOME order.
Those that work in critical sectors should go to work. Grocery stores, pharmacies, banks and more will stay open.

Newsom has ordered all non-essential businesses to close, including bars, gyms and entertainment centers
Grocery stores, pharmacies, banks and other businesses deemed as essential, which includes cannabis clubs, will remain open.
The order said residents “must have access to such necessities as food, prescriptions, and health care,” and that “they should at all times practice social distancing” should they need to venture out.
As for how the order to stay at home will be enforced, the Democrat is counting on the cancel culture to do it’s thing.
“There’s a social contract here, people I think recognize the need to do more … They will begin to adjust and adapt as they have been quite significantly,” Newsom stated. “We will have social pressure and that will encourage people to do the right thing.”
Slated to go into effect Thursday evening, there is also a potential fine up to $1,000 for those violating the order.
California has a population of 25.5 million people, and in a letter sent to President Trump, Newsom estimated that more than half of the state will get coronavirus over the next eight weeks.
“In the last 24 hours, we had 126 new COVID-19 cases, a 21 percent increase. In some parts of our state, our case rate is doubling every four days,” Newsom wrote.
On Thursday, he spoke about the numbers and hospital capacity.
“We believe the virus will impact about 56% of California’s population … You do the math, that’s a particularly large number,” Newsom said, according to CNBC. “We believe with a 20% hospitalization rate, that’s about 19,543 people that would need to be hospitalized – above the existing capacity of our system.”
These numbers represent a major jump from current stats.
As of 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, the California Department of Health reported that “there are a total of 675 positive cases and 16 deaths in California.”
As noted on the agency’s website, the totals don’t include passengers from the Grand Princess cruise ship currently docked in Oakland.
