Dem lawyer who led impeachment tests positive for coronavirus, blames Trump

Former House Intelligence Committee counsel Daniel Goldman announced that he has tested positive for the coronavirus.

Goldman, who served as the lawyer for Democrats in the impeachment process against President Donald Trump, announced on Twitter Sunday that his test results indicated he had the virus. He then proceeded to bash the president for trying to “gaslight the American public” on testing availability.

The former prosecutor tweeted that he is “almost back to 100%” and that his experience was “just like the flu.”

The Democrats’ chief litigator in Trump’s impeachment inquiry and trial accused the administration of being  “shockingly unprepared” to handle the pandemic after he chronicled his own experiences in the past week as he tried to get tested in New York for symptoms.

House Intelligence Chairman Rep. Adam Schiff announced earlier Sunday that a staffer who left his office 10 days ago, had tested positive.

“Medical professionals believe that my former staff member likely contracted the virus after leaving the office, but we will still be taking additional precautions over the next few days,” the California Democrat said in a statement.

“Let’s be very clear: unless you have pneumonia and traveled to one of 5 high-risk countries recently, you can NOT get a [coronavirus] test in New York City,” Goldman said on Twitter last week, calling the lack of available testing “shameful.”

“This is not New York City’s fault. There simply are insufficient tests so they are being rationed,” Goldman added in another tweet. “And I’m fine. Just want to rule it out for my family, including three little kids.”

He continued to update on his condition and the struggle to get tested before tweeting the next day from a hospital bed at the Cornell University hospital where he shared that he was denied a test because his symptoms were “not that bad.”

“I tested negative for all non-Covid viruses and had a clean chest x-ray (so lungs are fine). Was told to go home and isolate until I feel better,” he tweeted later before heading out to Stamford, Connecticut for a curbside test.

Goldman then hurled his criticism at Trump and his administration, claiming the president “is sacrificing the health of the American public for his own personal interests.”

“My difficulty in getting a test despite the exact symptoms and a neg flu test underscores how shockingly unprepared this administration is to deal with this pandemic,” he tweeted Sunday. “In fact, I was told that NYC hospitals STILL would not test my wife — with similar symptoms — unless admitted.”

“One final note: I may be the first you know who tested positive, but I won’t be the last. Let’s take care of each other, listen to the experts and the cities, states and corporations who are taking the lead in the absence of the fed government, and get through this together,” he concluded.

The president declared a national emergency over the coronavirus on Friday and tried to quell America’s fears on Sunday during a press conference as the media continued to stoke the fires of panic.

MSNBC featured an interview with Goldman on Monday as he doubled down on his blaming of the president.

“Donald Trump can keep saying that ‘anybody who wants a test can get it.’ I am living proof right here that that is not the case,” he said on “Morning Joe.

Twitter users, however, were not buying Goldman’s biased assessment of the president’s response to the coronavirus crisis.
