The Washington Post, leftist high-performance bird-cage liner, actually gave a Joe Biden online campaign ad “four Pinocchios” after a fact-check found that the ad used “video trickery” to edit quotes by President Trump and fabricate bogus context to make Trump look bad.

The guile in play by Biden’s team had to indeed be odious for WaPo to call them out on it.

The Democrats’ video manipulation was “blatant,” according to the Post. “Ultimately, the seriousness of the coronavirus outbreak, the fact that Trump had clarified his comments on the matter before the ad was released, and the blatant way the Biden camp isolated his remarks about the American Dream pushed us to Four Pinocchios,” the paper wrote. “Campaigns must be willing to make their case without resorting to video manipulation.”

Biden tweeted the ad on Super Tuesday. Watch …

The worst of the misrepresentations in the ad, according to the WaPo article, was in their misrepresentation of a Trump quote on the coronavirus being a hoax and another selectively edited comment on the American Dream being dead.

“Coronavirus — this is their new hoax,” said Trump at a campaign rally, as shown in the Biden ad. In fact, however, he did not say “this is their new hoax” immediately after saying “coronavirus” in his original comments. He actually made the hoax comment later in his speech as he talked about the media’s coronavirus blame game being similar to how it covered his impeachment trial.

Another WaPo fact-check referenced part of the Biden video showing Trump hugging an American flag, dubbed with audio of the president saying “the American dream … is dead.” In reality, Trump promised to bring back the American Dream immediately after he said “the American dream is dead,” which the Biden campaign cut out.

“The message is unarguably bleak, but by failing to include the second half of Trump’s repeated line, it isolates the comment from the context of Trump’s political argument,” the Post wrote. “Moreover, the ad does not make clear that the clip is nearly five years old, ignoring the difference between when a candidate and a sitting president makes a provocative, political statement like this.”

For some reason, part of the Biden ad was not fact-checked by WaPo. The video casts Trump as having called a group of white supremacists at the Charlottesville rally in 2017, “very fine people,” when he, in fact, was at the time talking about the divisive issue of taking down a Robert E. Lee statue and he said that there were “very fine people on both sides.”

That continually misrepresented claim by the left that has been fact-checked and debunked as being deceptive.

Even after WaPo’s fact-check, Twitter has refused to label Biden’s ad as “manipulated media,” as the social media company’s new policy would suggest should apply when it appears certain content is deceptively edited.

The reason? … Because the policy took effect on March 5, while the Biden ad posted March 3.

Meanwhile, a Trump campaign video was one of the first to be labeled by Twitter as “manipulated media.”

Finally, it’s sad that the iconic children’s character would be associated with behaviors as despicable as those of the notorious American left.

Why could the Democrats’ own icons of prevarication and deceit not be used? It seems a new hallmark of dishonesty has emerged that people of the 21st century could more readily understand than “Pinnochio.” Four smelly “Schiffheads” would, in fact, be a germane measure that evokes clarity and understanding, no?
