President Trump proudly touted his criminal-justice reforms and slammed CNN’s Van Jones for crediting MSNBC’s race-baiting host Al Sharpton for getting the legislation passed.
Trump signed the First Step Act in 2018, ushering in common-sense reforms to make the justice system fairer and to help nonviolent former inmates transition back into society.
The legislation has been widely praised for benefiting black Americans, who are disproportionately impacted by the criminal justice system.
“I passed criminal justice reform to give former prisoners a second chance at life. That is a big deal,” the President said at a raucous rally in Charleston, South Carolina.
“This could not have been done by anyone but the Republican Party. Previous presidents could not even think about doing it, and they tried. They came to me, a group of people [including CNN’s Van Jones], and they wanted criminal justice reform.”
Trump explained: “I started studying the issue and criminal justice reform. You saw Alice Johnson come out of prison after 22 years. She had another 20 years left – for a phone call. A great woman. We have many people coming out that should not be there anywhere near those terms.”

The President said: “The unemployment rate among African-Americans, Hispanic-Americans and Asian-Americans has reached record lows. Black poverty levels are the lowest-ever recorded in the history of our country.”
He continued: “For decades, Democrat politicians betrayed African-Americans. They forced their childen into failing schools. They shipped their jobs to foreign countries. They pushed unfair [jail] sentencing policies on them. They favored illegal aliens over their own constituents. My administration is reversing these failed policies and delivering record gains for African-Americans.”
President Trump said unlike the Democrats — who take black voters for granted — he will fight to win every vote.
“We are going to compete for every single vote in 2020,” Trump vowed. “And we expect a historic share of the black vote come Election Day.”
Trump then tore into CNN’s Van Jones, saying Jones thanked Al Sharpton for enacting the criminal-justice reforms.
“So [Van Jones] gets up [on his show] and starts by saying, ‘I want to thank the Reverend Al Sharpton,’” Trump recalled. “[Then he rattles off] name after name of people that I never heard of.”
The President expressed shock that Jones concluded his commentary without even acknowledging him and ended by urging his viewers to vote Trump out of office.
Trump said: “Then he said, ‘I have one more thing to say: We must get out this year and fight and vote against this president.’ Can you believe it?”

When President Trump mentioned Al Sharpton, the crowd at the South Carolina rally booed loudly.
“I knew Al when he was very heavy. He looks better when he was heavy; it’s true,” Trump said. “I know him very well, he would admit that has a lot of respect for your president, but he can’t admit it on television.”
As BizPac Review reported, Al Sharpton is a self-dealing tax evader who recently sold the rights to his life story — to his own taxpayer-funded charity.
Sharpton fomented the 1991 Crown Heights riots — which resulted in four days of looting, vandalism, and violent assaults in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. During the riots, hundreds of police officers and civilians were injured, dozens of businesses were vandalized, and countless police cars were set on fire.
Sharpton is most famous for championing Tawana Brawley, who falsely accused four white men of gang-raping her in 1987. She was found in a trash bag with racial slurs scrawled on her body.
That turned out to be a hoax.
Brawley’s shocking accusations angered many in the black community and ignited a race war, thanks to Al Sharpton.
A grand jury concluded there was no evidence to support Brawley’s accusations. The falsely-accused white men later successfully sued Brawley and her lawyers for defamation.
Sharpton’s latest race hustle is getting Democratic presidential candidates to promise that they’ll give black Americans “Slavery Reparation” if elected.
However, black activists warn black voters to not fall for the “Blame Whitey” con because no one is getting slavery reparations. It’s merely a shameless scam to fool blacks into voting for Democrats.
