It appears left-wing CNN commentator Van Jones has had it with former front-runner Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden’s lackluster campaign for office.
Speaking Friday morning on CNN’s “New Day,” he seemed almost irritated after co-host John Berman pointed out that, of all the candidates still in the Democrat presidential primary, Biden has invested the least in Super Tuesday states.
According to Jones, Biden may have spent so little in part because he’d falsely assumed he’d cruise through the Democrat presidential primary elections like some sort of heroic champion.
“And so the idea was in the way this calendar was put together, I think there was this assumption that he would be this very dominant front-runner, and he’d basically get this thing wrapped up,” the CNN commentator explained.
“So you got Iowa and New Hampshire. Then you get Nevada and South Carolina. Then basically you go basically through the south, except for California and some of the big states.”
But the problem, he continued, is that Biden’s been a hot mess from day one.
“[T]here’s a weakness in the Biden campaign that is obvious. It’s not just a weakness in the candidate. People say, ‘Oh, he’s maybe a little bit slower, a little bit this, a little bit that.’ No,” he said.
The problem runs far deeper than that.
“The problem is a former two-term vice president — Obama’s guy — should just be sucking in money. He’s broke. That shows a lack of enthusiasm not just at the grassroots level where he needed that but also at the top. And so it’s very, very hard to understand the rationale in the Biden candidacy as a campaign,” Jones ranted.
“He doesn’t have the grassroots enthusiasm. He’s not filling stadiums like Bernie Sanders. He’s not vacuuming in money from the top. He doesn’t have a grassroots operation. It’s just felt like a dead man walking campaign for a long time.”

He cautioned though that Biden could theoretically “come back.”
“But it could come back if he does something extraordinary tomorrow night, he blows it out, and all of a sudden, there’s like, ‘Oh, Joe’s back,'” he said, referencing the South Carolina Democrat primary scheduled for Saturday. “Maybe something reverses. But it’s a weird strategy.”
He’s not the only one who’s predicted a possible comeback for Biden. After current front-runner candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders was demolished at the tenth Democrat primary debate this past week, Biden’s numbers in South Carolina began to climb as Sanders’ numbers began to plummet.
Biden is a heavy favorite in South Carolina, with polls showing a major shift back toward him in the closing days. In the only three fully *post-debate* polls, which also reflect the Clyburn endorsement, he led Sanders by 17, 21 and 28 points.

Keep in mind though that Biden cannot make a true “come back” by simply performing well in South Carolina. He must keep the momentum going into Super Tuesday. Is that a possibility? Yes, though only to some extent.
Nate Silver’s FiveThirtyEight notes that while Biden is polling behind Sanders in Maine, Massachusetts and Vermont, he is leading in two key battleground states — North Carolina and Virginia.
“Our forecast has Biden as a very slight favorite to win [North Carolina], with about a 1 in 2 (49 percent) chance, while Sanders has about a 3 in 10 (30 percent) shot at victory,” the site reported Friday.
“To the north, Virginia is another highly competitive piece of the Super Tuesday puzzle. Our forecast gives Biden a slight edge in the Old Dominion, with almost a 1 in 2 (47 percent) chance of winning. Meanwhile, Sanders has a roughly 2 in 5 (37 percent) shot.”
With only days remaining until Super Tuesday, however, the former VP has multiple opportunities to diminish this lead via either his inordinately malfunctioning mouth or his blatant lies.
On Friday he finally admitted that he’d lied when he’d claimed that he’d been arrested in South Africa decades ago while trying to meet with then-anti-apartheid leader Nelson Mandela.
He also told a crowd of supporters that he’s “looking forward to appointing the first African American woman to the United States Senate.”

FYI, presidents don’t appoint senators. Moreover, the U.S. Senate has already had two black senators.
During the Democrat debate Tuesday evening, he claimed that half of the U.S. population has been killed by gun violence.
And on Monday, he told a crowd of supporters that he’s “a Democratic candidate of the United States” and urged them to “vote for the other Biden” if they don’t like him.

His gaffes have become so frequent (and often hilarious) that President Donald Trump couldn’t resist taking shots at him during his rally Friday evening in Charleston, South Carolina.
“At one point the US president did an impression of a confused Mr Biden forgetting where he was, asking aides if he was in Ohio or Ireland instead of South Carolina,” The Daily Telegraph reported.
“Mr Trump also recounted his shock when Mr Biden mistakenly said in a TV debate this week that 150 million people had been killed by guns in America.”
“I said that is a horrible thing, that is the end of his evening, that is the end of his political career,” the president said. “Then, after the debate, they are saying Joe Biden had a great night last night. I don’t get it.”
Neither does Jones, it would appear.
