Fox Business Network host Trish Regan repeatedly sounded off Thursday on what she described as efforts by Democrats, including the Democrats at CNN, to politicize coronavirus to score points against President Donald Trump.
Multiple times throughout the evening’s airing of FBN’s “Trish Regan Primetime,” the host initially aimed her frustration at CNN in particular for its attempts to “stoke a national coronavirus panic.”
- “Diagnosis: Positive. CNN is infected with Trump Derangement Syndrome. … I’m calling out CNN for irresponsibly politicizing something that should be a unifying battle against a virus that doesn’t choose sides.”
- “Anti-Trump network CNN doing whatever it can to stoke a national coronavirus panic. The far-left network pretty much ignoring anyone they interview who doesn’t blame President Trump.”
- “I’m calling out CNN for irresponsibly politicizing what should be a unifying battle against a virus that doesn’t choose any sides. This isn’t about politics. In addition, the far-left network is refusing to listen to anyone, even on the air, who goes against their anti-Trump tirade.”
- “This is a time when we should be united. We need a bipartisan effort to fight this. We do not and will not ever wish harm on our citizens or our economy, period. You know what, CNN needs to recognize that.”
The second quote wound up attracting the president’s attention:
“Anti-Trump Network @CNN doing whatever it can to stoke a national Coronavirus panic. The far left Network pretty much ignoring anyone who they interview who doesn’t blame President Trump.” @trish_regan @FoxNews Media refuses to discuss the great job our professionals are doing!

Later in the program, she highlighted a “dust-up” that occurred earlier in the evening between CNN’s Alisyn Camerota and Texas Rep. Will Herd.
The clip showed Camerota claiming that CNN isn’t trying to politicize coronavirus, even as she asked questions about the crisis that were entirely political in nature.
Regan then turned her attention to other left-wing media outlets and their Democrat allies.
“Meanwhile at the liberal New York Times, one opinion writer says, ‘Let’s call it Trump virus, because if you’re feeling awful, you know who to blame,'” she said. “This is not a time for humor. Nor is it time for a blame game. But you know what, that’s not stopping the Democrats.”
Indeed. As the Trump administration has been busy taking concrete actions to stop the spread of coronavirus, Democrats have been busy relentlessly attacking him.
Case in point:
Trump is running budget deficits like a drunken casino owner, but he cut money to protect against global pandemics.

Instead of delivering the well-coordinated, fully-funded #coronavirus response Americans deserve, the Trump Admin continues to leave key positions vacant & ransack other vital public health needs. https://t.co/IlY7sbnMgD

Putting Mike Pence in charge of our coronavirus response is like putting Bernie Madoff in charge of your retirement money. https://t.co/jdjmnFfqg6

Americans deserve a well-coordinated, fully funded, whole-of-government response to the coronavirus, not the chaos and CDC budget cuts coming out of this Administration.
We have to get this right.

After 50 days, Pres. Trump is finally waking up to the coronavirus threat. Our immediate priority must be getting funding to states so they can prepare & respond. We must also improve our ability to quickly test for this virus to ensure it is not spreading in our communities.

Democrats will work with President Trump to get a handle on the coronavirus.
But he must stop the name-calling, playing politics, and blaming everyone but himself.

It seems as if their hatred for the president is like a disease unto itself …
“As I said earlier, this is not a time to be pointing fingers,” Regan continued. “This is a time for the United States to be united, for us all to be together in fighting this virus, whatever it takes.”

Afterward, she reiterated her complaints to Pennsylvania Rep. Guy Reschenthaler.
“Can’t they ever get their act together and say, ‘Hey, we ought to be together on this one. Let’s work with the president to make sure we keep Americans safe?'” she asked in exasperation.
“Trish, they just can’t help themselves,” Reschenthaler replied. “They are preemptively blaming the president. Let’s just back up and think about this. This is a virus that started in China. It spread all over the world, yet they want to blame President Trump for this.”
“This virus doesn’t know the difference if you’re a Republican or Democrat. The Democrats, on the other hand, instead of uniting, are now trying to politicize this and just blame the president. It’s absolutely disgusting.”
“It is disgusting,” Regan replied. “You look at the sell-off in our markets. You look at the danger it represents to Americans … and to think that somehow they’re trying to capitalize on this. And I can’t help but worry that’s exactly what they want.”
As evidence, she pointed to their desire to see the economy crash.
“We played the tapes before. They were wishing for a recession. They were like, ‘Whatever it takes. Whatever it takes to get this president to get out of office.’ I’m sorry, we don’t need the threat of a pandemic … to get rid of Donald Trump! And the idea that they would try to capitalize on that in any way, I find extraordinarily disturbing.”
