In a segment designed to paint President Donald Trump as a totalitarian ruler with absolute power, MSNBC’s Joy Reid invited a sole Republican panelist to square off against her and four other liberals.
(Yes, one of those liberals was Jennifer Rubin, the alleged “conservative” columnist from the Washington Post.)
And when the outnumbered guest, Tracey Winbush, the president of the Ohio Black Republican Association, dared to criticize the fake news media and suggest President Trump being elected president is God’s will… well, suffice it to say, all hell broke loose.
Projecting politically motivated interpretations as fact, Reid asked Winbush how she explains “the normalization of violent rhetoric” in her party — brought on by Trump, of course.
“Everything you said about the president, authoritarianism, a thing about autocracy, none of that means anything because you’re not understanding leadership,” Winbush said.
“The president is the leader of the free world and he has to make decisions, and we need to respect that,” she continued. “Journalists don’t want to cover the truth, they don’t want to cover the facts. They never have. They have never told the truth and/or the facts about Trump.”
Reid interrupted to dispute that the media doesn’t report the facts — citing a clinical take on journalism that went out the window sometime in the 1960s.
She goes on to distort the president’s position on foreign policy to question him being the leader of the free world, and Winbush makes the mistake of responding to what is not true by trying to help Reid understand the president’s actions.
“In the moment, we need to let a person lead, but right now we’ve never allowed that to happen with President Trump,” she said, after stressing that the American people may not be privy to all the facts that the president has at his disposal.
Just as she does with Trump, Reid badly distorts what her guest just said — so much so that you marvel at the fact that MSNBC gives this woman a show.
“So you’re saying Donald Trump needs to lead in secret because he knows more than we do, so we just need to trust that his leadership decisions are correct,” she said.
Reid also took issue with Winbush expressing support for police, declaring that “black people are dying, who are unarmed and being shot,” suggesting cops make a habit of gunning down innocent black people in the streets of America.
Again, it’s truly remarkable that a network would allow Reid to spew such dishonest, hateful and divisive rhetoric on national television.
Reid began to lose it when Winbush countered by offering real solutions to stop black people from dying, disrespecting her guest by dismissing her views as talking points from the Reagan era.
Will Bunch, a columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer, entered the fray to agree with Reid, suggesting America is heading toward a police state and that police are “feeling incredibly empowered” by support from Trump — as if law enforcement are the bad guys.
The liberal also talked about ICE “terrorizing” communities in the pursuit of criminal aliens, which is sure to guarantee future appearances on the left-leaning network, as he concurred that Trump is an authoritarian.
Rubin weighed in with her typical anti-Trump rubbish, offering the ridiculous view that “the Republican Party is not a conservative party, it’s an authoritarian party.”
Quite proud of herself — you can take it to the bank that this shrew is no authority on what conservatism is about — she rambled on to claim the president doesn’t operate within the rule of law.
The columnist also attacked Republicans as “cultists, idolaters who invest all hope, all faith, all protection in Donald Trump.”
In an attempt to set Winbush up for ridicule, Reid then asked her, “Is Donald Trump sent by God?”
“All power is elevated by God,” Winbush replied. “If he’s in power, he was sent there by God.”
Putting words into her mouth to accomplish her intended goal, Reid said, “So God sent Donald Trump.”
“I believe Donald Trump is in office because God allowed him to be there,” Walbash countered. “To give America a reprieve so that they can reset and get back to normal.”
“Do you believe he is king?” Reid followed up, claiming that Trump declares himself king.
“I think we all are if you’re in Christ Jesus,” Winbush answered.
The rest of the panel, led by Reid, found humor in Walbash’s display of faith in Jesus Christ, as they collectively laughed at her.
How this hatefest airs on a national network is an amazing feat. One that proves that in America, all things are possible.
