Lou Dobbs: ‘I have serious questions about the integrity of the DOJ under AG Bill Barr’

Lou Dobbs has some “serious questions” about Attorney General William Barr and the integrity of the Department of Justice under his leadership.

The Fox Business host had no sooner praised Barr for “doing the Lord’s work” earlier this week than he was calling into question comments and decisions made by President Trump’s attorney general.

Dobbs had ripped into Barr for seeming to betray the president during an ABC interview this week, saying he was “so disappointed in him” for complaining that Trump’s tweets about the Justice Department’s activities “make it impossible for me to do my job.”

News on Friday that the DOJ announced the investigation of former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe is now “closed,” and no criminal charges will be brought against him for lying under oath, further set Dobbs off.

“No justice for Andrew McCabe, for the FBI officials who are corrupt to their bones,” Dobbs said, speaking with guest, Fox News contributor and investigative journalist, John Solomon on “Lou Dobbs Tonight” Friday.

“I have serious, serious questions about the integrity of the Justice Department under Attorney General Barr. I have serious questions, and I have to believe most Americans do right now,” Dobbs said.

“It’s clear. It’s a matter of fact that McCabe lied and deceived and ordered up that special counsel condition that allowed it to unfold,” he added. “So is my cynicism, my skepticism about all of this misplaced? Is it time for to us all take note that the deep state is intractable and that much more has to be done to bring it to heel?”

Solomon agreed that a “pattern” has emerged but noted that “the bar is pretty high for prosecuting inside the Justice Department.”

“They don’t prosecute their own willingly or easily,” he said.

“You can describe it as a high bar or a low life bunch of officials who run the place. I choose the latter,” Dobbs remarked.

“I don’t think there’s a high standard for anything in the leadership of the Justice Department or the FBI. And I don’t think that we should in any way reflexively say that every other person in the Justice Department or the FBI is a good solid American who means well in their public service,” he continued.

“I don’t believe that at all. Because these people had to have enablers. They had to have people working with them. And they didn’t step forward, they’re not going to step forward because they fear for themselves and their livelihood such as it is,” Dobbs added.

He went on to slam the “corrupt government,” agreeing with Solomon that there are “two systems of justice” in Washington.

Solomon pointed out that “it’s in John Durham’s ballpark now,” referring to the ongoing investigation of the 2016 Trump-Russia probe being conducted by the US attorney for Connecticut who was tapped by Barr.

“The American public is going to judge Attorney General Barr and his Justice Department and the end result here,” he said. “If there is no ultimate justice, then I think the American people will be rightfully upset.”

“They might be upset. But that’s one of the reasons this took 22 months to bring forward the decision not to prosecute Andrew McCabe,” Dobbs contended.

“I simply want to say to them, to hell with you,” he added. “You are a disgrace to the country and you ought to be ashamed. We may not be able to do a damn thing about it but you’d better know that we know who you are.”
