Trump-haters who hoped that impeachment would weaken the President got a rude awakening this week. President Trump says the only thing he learned from the House impeachment is that Democrats are “crooked” and “vicious” and will do anything for power.
He also pointed out that the impeachment only served to add rocket fuel to his approval ratings, which surged both during and after the impeachment trial.
The President made the remarks Wednesday during a White House meeting with President Lenin Moreno of Ecuador.
A reporter in the media scrum claimed that some Republicans hope that Trump “learned a lesson” from the process that will temper his leadership style.
“What lesson did you learn from impeachment?” the reporter asked.
Trump said what he learned is “that the Democrats are crooked. They’ve got a lot of crooked things going. That they’re vicious.”
The President suggested that he taught the Democrats a lesson, which is that they shouldn’t have impeached him, because it’s boomeranging on them big-time.
“[The lesson to be learned is that] they shouldn’t have brought impeachment,” Trump said. “That my poll numbers are 10 points higher because of fake news like NBC, which reports the news very inaccurately — probably more inaccurately than CNN, if that’s possible. And MSDNC, I think they’re among the most dishonest ‘reporters’ of the news.”
Trump 2020 campaign manager Brad Parscale said the President’s record showing in the New Hampshire primary race proves that the sham impeachment is backfiring.
“It shows how wrong the Democrats were on impeachment,” Parscale told Fox News. “We were on the ground there. The enthusiasm people had [was off-the-charts]. People are showing up because they’re so excited for November that they’re ready to come out today.”
President Trump received more votes in the New Hampshire primary than any incumbent president in U.S. history. In fact, Trump more than doubled Barack Obama’s totals from 2012.
Last week, Trump also scored a record turnout for an incumbent in the Iowa Caucuses.
While Democrats Joe Biden, Pete Buttigieg, and Elizabeth Warren spoke to unenthused voters at lackluster rallies, 11,000 Trump supporters packed the campus of Southern New Hampshire University on Monday.
Some waited in line 35 hours — in freezing temperatures — before the rally was scheduled to take place.
Attorney Joe Kelly Levasseur, the Alderman-at-Large for Manchester, New Hampshire, said the impeachment really fired him up. Indeed, the Democrats’ partisan impeachment galvanized millions of Trump supporters.
“It never should have gotten started,” Levasseur told the New Hampshire Union Leader. “It was a despicable display of partisanship and it should be expunged. [Mitt] Romney is our modern-day Benedict Arnold. It kills him to see Trump in the White House, loved by salt-of-the-earth Republicans, and also doing exceptionally well.”
Manchester Ward 12 Alderman Keith Hirschmann agreed that the impeachment was a total waste of time and taxpayer money. Accordingly, Hirschmann predicts that President Trump will coast to a landslide victory in November.
“The extremely partisan impeachment proceedings have been proven unfounded,” Hirschmann said. “I expect President Trump’s record on the economy will propel him…to complete victory in November.”
