Lou Dobbs questions his own network for airing Dem’s ‘theater’ impeachment

Fox Business anchor Lou Dobbs dismissed the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump as a “fiction” which the media should just ignore.

The host of “Lou Dobbs Tonight” contended Thursday that even the “very high” ratings enjoyed by Fox News and Fox Business should make no difference in his call for the media to not lend the trial any credence by covering it.

“I’d like to go into endless detail about the impeachment proceedings, but the theater is lost on me,” Dobbs told guest,  Ronna McDaniel, chair of the Republican National Committee.

“I see no reason in the world to watch it or listen to it,” he said after calling out the Democratic House managers in the Senate impeachment trial for their “boorish and dishonest” conduct. “Frankly, I’ve had a bellyful of lies and venom.”

McDaniel agreed, adding that the Democrats’ impeachment efforts are “in shambles.”

“The American people are smarter than that. They recognize that this is theater,” she said, adding that “no one’s watching.”

“People are not paying attention because they know the outcome, they know the score of this game,” McDaniel said.

“I do have to be candid about our ratings, however, which are very high for both the Fox News Channel and for Fox Business,” Dobbs interjected.

“I understand the fascination with the process. But to watch continuously what is just lie after lie,” he continued.

“And the national left-wing media continues to give credence to all of this nonsense, and they sort of puff up with importance as they report on all of this when they know it’s a fiction, it is a tragic fiction, and it’s just another extension from the party of hate and an attempt to subvert this president and ultimately to overthrow him,” Dobbs said.

Trump slammed the “corrupt” press while speaking in Davos, Switzerland on Wednesday at the World Economic Forum.

“If we could straighten out the press in our country, we would have a place that is so incredible. The press is so dishonest, so corrupt. I read it all the time. I don’t mind bad stories. I deserve bad stories sometimes. But when I do something great, or good, let it be written about good! Same thing with other people,” the president said.

“The corruption in the media, as I call it, the fake news media is unbelievable and hopefully everybody is going to sort of learn a lesson. People got Pulitzer Prizes for their coverage of me. And it turned out they were totally wrong,” Trump added.

While Dobbs had slammed the “theater” being put on by Democrats in the Senate impeachment show, it seems like those directly involved in the proceedings have grown weary – literally.

Republicans and Democrats were reportedly bored senseless during only the second day of the president’s Senate trial.

Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky allegedly penned an “S.O.S.” during the lengthy opening statement by House Intelligence Committee chair Adam Schiff and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders was even seen dozing off.
