No mercy for Adam Schiff whining over McConnell’s trial rules after holding ‘secret’ depositions in basement ‘bunkers’

Democrats lacking all self-awareness are crying over proposed impeachment trial rules and accusing Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of “a cover-up.”

House impeachment managers, led by House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff, held a news conference just hours before they are scheduled to appear on the Senate floor Tuesday, whining about McConnell’s proposed rules while suffering selective amnesia over their own conduct during the House proceedings.

“This is a process where you do not want the American people to see the evidence,” Schiff said.

“We can see why this resolution was kept from us and the American people,” the California Democrat continued, adding that it is “nothing like” the process used in the impeachment trial of former President Bill Clinton.

“It does not prescribe a process for a fair trial and the American people desperately want to believe that the Senate … will give both the president and the House of Representatives a fair trial,” Schiff told reporters.

He accused McConnell of “compressing the time of the trial,” referring to a provision in the GOP leader’s resolution that gives the impeachment managers 24 hours over two legislative days to argue their case.

Oversight Committee Republicans were among the first to blast Schiff for playing politics and inciting ‘fake outrage’:

Minority Leader Chuck Schumer also slammed Republicans over the procedures.

“Right off the bat, Republican senators will face a choice about getting the facts or joining leader McConnell and President Trump in trying to cover them up,” the New York Democrat told reporters ahead of the trial start.

“A trial with no evidence is not a trial at all. It’s a cover-up,” Schumer declared.

“This is a historic moment,” Schumer added. “The eyes of America are watching. Republican senators must rise to the occasion.”

Schiff echoed the cover-up alarms.

“I think the question is what is … Senator McConnell’s interest in structuring the trial this way? Is this about hiding the evidence from the American people with late night sessions? Is this about just trying to get it over with?”he asked.

“Look there is a wealth of evidence to present here, and we should have the opportunity to present the case as the House chooses to present its case. Not to go late into evening,” Schiff said.

Republicans supporting McConnell’s rules would “prove the Senate guilty of working with the president to obstruct the truth from coming out,” Schiff declared.

“I do think by structuring the trial this way it furthers our case that what’s going on here … is a cover up,” he added.

In a joint statement released Tuesday, House impeachment managers declared that the proposed trial process is “rigged.”

“A White House-driven and rigged process, with a truncated schedule designed to go late into the night and further conceal the President’s misconduct, is not what the American people expect or deserve,” the statement read.

Democrats were slammed for their theatrics on Twitter where users called them out for their double standards and hypocrisy.
