Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez again displayed her clueless take on topics during an interview at an event commemorating Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
The New York congresswoman and member of the “The Squad” of freshman lawmakers declared that the Democratic Party is a “center or center-conservative” party and there is not a “left” party in the United States right now.

“We don’t have a left party in the United States. The Democratic Party is not a left party,” Ocasio-Cortez said at the Blackout for Human Rights’ fifth annual MLK Now event on Monday.
“The Democratic Party is a center or a center-conservative party,” she continued, citing the example of Congress’ inability to vote on “Medicare for All.”
“We can’t even get a floor vote on Medicare-for-all — not even a floor vote that gets voted down. We can’t even get a vote on it. So this is not a left party,” she said. “There are left members inside the Democratic Party that are working to try to make that shift happen.”
She went on to add that it “does convey a certain sentiment about true believers.”
“And there are a lot of true believers in that we can capitalism our way out of poverty in the Democratic Party. If anything, that’s probably the majority. And that’s an area in which I agree with Dr. King, that assessment is flawed,” she said at the event held in New York’s Riverside Church.
Apparently, Democratic policies such as government-funded health care, free college, open borders and abortions are now considered “conservative” in the mind of the progressive darling.
And the attempt to frame Socialism as “normal” has begun.

Honest question, what policies of the 2020 Democratic Party can be considered, “conservative?”

Ocasio-Cortez also took a moment in her interview to compare the peaceful gun rights protest in Richmond, Virginia, on Monday to violent Black Lives Matter riots in Baltimore and New York City.
“You know, one thing I’ve really been thinking and sitting with today, there’s this gun rights protest that’s happening down in Richmond and on MLK Day. And here’s the image that has struck with me the most about that. It’s that when we go out and march for the dignity and the recognition of the lives of people, like Freddie Gray and Eric Garner, the whole place is surrounded by police in riot gear, without a gun in sight,” she declared.

“And here are all of these people, flying Confederate flags with semi-automatic weapons and there’s almost no police officers at that protest.” she claimed.
“So who or what are our institutions protecting from who?” she wondered. “And that image conveys it all, conveys it all.”
Ocasio-Cortez’s comparison seemed like quite a stretch as the deaths in 2015 of Gray in Baltimore and Garner in Baltimore set off violent riots across the nation, with demonstrators staging “sit-ins” and “die-ins” as well as looters and vandals causing millions of dollars in damages.
Despite the liberal media’s narrative, the protesters in Richmond gathered to make their voices heard peacefully and there were reported riots, looting or injuries from violent crowds.

As for all of those Confederate flags Ocasio-Cortez claimed were being flown at the event, reporters and others on the ground conveyed a very different image of the Virginia protest.

I just finished watching everything from today’s rally. Where were the confederate flags again? Saw a Hong Kong flag, maybe that’s what she thought it was.
