CNN’s Jim Acosta sounded the alarm about what analysts have “feared” after an Iranian missile attack on an airbase in Iraq.
CNN’s White House correspondent claimed that Iran’s launch of more than a dozen missiles on the joint US-Iraqi Al-Asad airbase on Tuesday confirmed the fears of foreign policy and national security experts, telling Wolf Blitzer that Iranians have gotten the attention of President Donald Trump.

“This president now faces a very critical test,” Acosta said in the wake of the rocket launch which was apparently in retaliation for the U.S. airstrike ordered by Trump last week that killed Iran’s Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani.
“He will face perhaps the biggest question of his presidency and that is whether to retaliate and how severely to this apparent Iranian retaliation and we’re going to have to wait and see what happens in the days ahead and the hours ahead,” Acosta told Blitzer.
He shared a statement from White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham.
We are aware of the reports of attacks on US facilities in Iraq. The President has been briefed and is monitoring the situation closely and consulting with his national security team.

Acosta also noted the president’s earlier comments, warning Iran about seeking revenge and vowing the U.S. would not remain silent in the wake of any potential attacks.
“So now the president has essentially drawn his own red line…and now the question will be whether or not the president enforces that,” Acosta said, adding that Trump visited the Al-Asad airbase during the Christmas holiday in 2018 and perhaps the Iranians sought to target the site as a way to get his attention.
“The president’s attention has been gotten by the Iranians,” Acosta said before making his next claim.
“This is exactly what many foreign policy and national security analysts feared here in Washington,” he declared, adding that “a lot of Democrats” had also been talking about the issue as well.
“The president, by targeting Soleimani, has essentially set this chain of events into motion and the question is whether the president will be able to get on top of it and handle it, without this blowing up into just a full-blown military conflict between the United States and Iran, which is obviously not something the president campaigned on when he ran for president in 2016. He campaigned on getting the US out of these kinds of entanglements in the Middle East, but he’s entangled right now,” Acosta said.
Of course, the CNN reporter left out some important facts for viewers that would spoil his narrative. It was not Trump who set the “chain of events into motion,” but Iran, after killing an American contractor and being part of the assault on the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad. And the “analysts” he referred to apparently had no such fears over rising escalations during the Obama administration, which launched over 2,800 drone strikes in Iraq and Syria.
The left’s collective amnesia also seems to have blocked out memory of the standing ovation former President Obama received, even from Republicans, on the killing of Osama bin Laden.
Acosta even mocked a message the president sent in a tweet reassuring Americans, who were having their own fears stoked by the media, that “all is well.”

Acosta’s observations drew plenty of reaction on Twitter.
Send Acosta to Iran!

“Foreign policy” and “national security analysts”……is that supposed to impress us?
Who’s that Ana Navarro and Bill Kristol?

Acosta doesn’t know what he’s talking about, he’s parroting Dem’s talking points. Those so called Analysts haven’t feared anything if so where were they when Obama killed 1000s of Ppl in Syria & Libya with drone strikes?
