Comedian Ricky Gervais got in yet another laugh after his scathing reality check on Hollywood during the Golden Globe Awards show.
Critics weren’t pleased with his opening monologue calling out liberal hypocrites in Hollywood, turning on Gervais for hurting their sensitive little feelings, prompting an annoyed Gervais to fire back at the crybabies.
The best line of the night was a classic that drew groans from the celebrity crowd.
“So if you do win an award tonight don’t use it as a platform to make a political speech. You’re in no position to lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg,” he said, this being a reference to the teenage climate activist liberals love so dearly.
“So if you win, come up, accept your little award, thank your agent and your god and then f**k off,” Gervais concluded.
The fall out continues, as seen in an editorial ran Monday in The Independent, with the headline pretty much saying it all, “Ricky Gervais cheapened the Golden Globes – but worse he overshadowed vital political statements.”
Getting one last laugh in, Gervais responded to make it clear he doesn’t care:

That being a common theme Sunday night, as Gervais said, again and again, that was the last time he would host the award show. After every stinger, be it a cheap shot at the star-studded crowd over Jeffrey Epstein or Harvey Weinstein, he would proclaim, “I don’t care.”
The problem for the left, who count on award shows to push their progressive agenda on pop culture, is that mocking by Gervais was largely effective in shutting down the message machine — the Independent editorial referred to his “overbearing voice.”
On the other hand, some would argue Gervais “made the Golden Globes Great Again!”

On Tuesday, Gervais took to Twitter to defend his humor, and take a shot at the press.
“I always knew that there were morons in the world that took jokes seriously, but I’m surprised that some journalists do. Surely, understanding stuff is pretty fundamental to their job, isn’t it? Just makes it funnier though, I guess?,” he tweeted.

In another tweet, before the crack of dawn Wednesday morning, Gervais addressed the controversy stirred up over his appearance.
“1. Simply pointing out whether someone is left or right wing isn’t winning the argument. 2. If a joke is good enough, it can be enjoyed by anyone. 3. It’s not all about you. 4. Just because you’re offended, doesn’t mean you’re right,” the tweet stated.
