A woman accused of a hate crime for attacking Jewish women in New York City was causing so much embarrassment for Democrats and their dubious progressive policies that Mayor Bill de Blasio reportedly intervened.
Tiffany Harris was making an absolute mockery of a revolving door criminal justice process under Democrats, and de Blasio intervened because of the bad publicity she was drawing, the New York Post reported.
The mayor’s involvement resulted in Harris, 30, being locked up in a psych ward, according to the paper.
City administrators reportedly “flipped out” after learning Harris allegedly pinched a social worker after she was released for the second time without bail — she would be arrested again the very next day for the third time in a week.
“The Mayor’s Office was deeply concerned after learning she was not in compliance with her supervised release and her erratic behavior was continuing,” a source told the Post. “They reached out to the court, who then calendared it to further investigate.”
Harris was first arrested for slapping three Orthodox Jewish women in an apparent antiSemitic attack on Friday, Dec. 27.
“Yes, I slapped them. I cursed them out. I said ‘F-U, Jews,’” Harris admitted to police after the incident, according to a criminal complaint.
One day after being released without bail, Harris allegedly attacked another woman.
Police charged her on Sunday, Dec. 29 with assault for punching a 35-year-old woman in the face, about a mile away from the first attack — it was unclear if the second victim is Jewish.
Again, New York City released her without bail — Democrats’ new bail reform law lets suspects charged with violent misdemeanors to be released without cash bail.
But that’s just the beginning of the generosity bestowed on alleged criminals.
New York City gives people getting out of jail free Metro cards to ride the subway, two $25 debit cards and a burner cell phone.
Mayor de Blasio appeared on Fox News last week to justify this stunning taxpayer-funded benevolence, saying they’re “trying to get people out of crime and keep them out of crime.”
Harris was picked up for a third time on New Year’s Eve after an arrest warrant was issued when Harris allegedly failed to comply with the court-ordered monitoring.
The Post reported at the time that Harris “had allegedly blown off an appointment with social workers at Brooklyn Justice Initiatives, which runs a supervised release program.”
But the newspaper is now reporting that City Hall contacted the state Office of Court Administration about Harris, forcing an unscheduled hearing late that afternoon.
Harris’ public defender complained to the judge that news coverage prompted the mayor to intervene.
“The mayor of the executive branch of the government got involved because of a press case,” said Lisa Schreibersdorf, founder and executive director of Brooklyn Defender Services.
The judge issued a bench warrant for Harris’ arrest and when picked up, she would be held the next day for a 72-hour psychiatric evaluation. Harris was then admitted for mental health observation “at the discretion of her doctor,” a source familiar with her care told the Post.
De Blasio spokeswoman Freddi Goldstein justified their intervention.
“It is our job to help ensure supervised release works as it should,” Goldstein declared.
